And KGB Vlad vetoed a UN resolution regarding NK. This won’t end well for the tin pot Czar.
AP got in a negative comment in the summary
“President Trump, want to do something really useful? Shoot NK damn testing down, missiles goodbye. That is showing some real balls. “
I have read that our system for shooting down missiles isn’t all that reliable. So we won’t use it unless we really need to. The better approach would be to hit the damned things in initial boost phase where they are slow and easier to hit, but that would mean shooting them in NK airspace.
THAAD is designed for short range and mid range missiles. Useless against ICBM’s.
Yes, I understand that, but we do have a system designed to destroy ICBM’s in mid-flight. We just had a test here @ Vandenberg AFB in SoCal which was successful. The report I read talked about the use of “decoys” on the mock ICBM. in the 1970’s I worked for a company that provided “penaid packages” for the Minuteman III. It involved throwing off specular reflectors that emulated ejecting the thrust termination ports on the missiie’s solid-fuel motor so that the enemy radar would start trying to track the missile based on physics without thrust. I am sure that all of that stuff is high button shoes today.
