THAAD is designed for short range and mid range missiles. Useless against ICBM’s.
Yes, I understand that, but we do have a system designed to destroy ICBM’s in mid-flight. We just had a test here @ Vandenberg AFB in SoCal which was successful. The report I read talked about the use of “decoys” on the mock ICBM. in the 1970’s I worked for a company that provided “penaid packages” for the Minuteman III. It involved throwing off specular reflectors that emulated ejecting the thrust termination ports on the missiie’s solid-fuel motor so that the enemy radar would start trying to track the missile based on physics without thrust. I am sure that all of that stuff is high button shoes today.
