(not Rummy Chick) but I own that truth and would be ok with giving up female vote as long as it’s all the female vote.

Also would be ok with just property owners voting, as long as property ownership were open to all and there was no governmental barriers in place.

Allowing one group of Americans to tax another was a big part of our undoing. Of course non-owners would vote to tax owners. And I don’t own any property so I’m not just carrying on in my own defense.

Perhaps only property owners could vote on property taxes; and all citizens could vote on all other issues.

There is still no other place I know of where I’d rather live. But we have slid very far downhill.

As perfect as it could be considering the time that has passed.

Job well done IMHO.

It might have lasted longer without the subversion inherent in the three evil amendments, the 16th, the 17th, and the 19th plus the creation of the long feared Central Bank/Federal Reserve. 16 and the Fed gave the central government control of the money and of the income and wealth of the nation. 17 ended Federalism by ending the representation of the States as States in the Federal government and 19 guaranteed the feminization of the Republic in that the emphasis of elections would be on security for women and their children and to make everyone “be nice.” That very last seems like a joke almost but it is very serious for therein lies tan irresistible path to totalitarian centralism.

EXACTLY. I was going to post something like that, but you said it far better than I could.

I suppose it depends on the degree of repression. While other parts of the world have not advanced, many people here find the extent of our regression to be very troubling.

I think the founders would be impressed with America 2017 while fully understanding its flaws. Ain’t nothing perfect in this old world but I think we’re doing OK, especially when you consider the ideological tsunami — namely socialism — that we and the entire world were hit by in the last century. The left is a formidable world-historical force whose power comes from a universalist moral vision that despite its grave errors is a challenge to our own. There was no way we could have come out of its onslaught in pristine condition, and we didn’t. We have been affected, but we are still standing, and a lot of our founding ideas and attitudes remain intact (much to the left’s chagrin), and we can recover. We’re not doomed and we don’t need to be dumping on ourselves for being battle scarred and bruised.

“But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case it is unfit to exist.” ~ Lysander Spooner

All that is true. I would also add that initially only property owners were allowed to vote. Once you open that up to everyone, welcome welfare state. Today only working people should be allowed to vote.

With regard to the feminization of the country and wussification of men, that makes us an easy prey to a more masculine, robust culture such as Islam. But it still remains to be seen how it all plays out.

The Gods must be enjoying themselves watching us fools bounce around from one ineptitude to another.

How did we go from true Liberty and unalienable rights to almost complete oppression in 241 years? What changed?

Here’s the simple answer. WE DID.

Many of us went from an integrated mode of thought to a disintegrated mode of thought. Irrationality, emotionalism, and immediate interests replaced reason and true interests as our motivations.

Like I said before on other posts about women in charge of anything - most of them suck royally. Phyllis Schlaffly was an exception, but her daughter and cohorts proved to be more like Ivanka.

I am happy that Trump won the majority of married women, another fact to make the pundits heads explode.

Islam and China. as a feminine society we will be overcome eventually by one of those two Masculine societies, Islam or China. China can give in to Trump now to save its economy but Xi et al know that eventually Feminine America will succumb and China expects it to be to China. China understands Islam and counters it instead of accommodating it.Non Moslem Oriental peoples understand.

It was not even necessary that the men be “wussified.” The women outvote them.

Yes, China is definitely a top candidate for our takeover, as well as Russia and its eastern European allies.

The direct election of US Senators was the most disastrous change that happened to this country. Quite simply the States lost all power, the Judiciary begain legislating, the House began blaming the President for spending, when it is them and ONLY them who does so. The House of Representatives can refuse to finance any part of the government without any others interference. The problem with the US Constitution is it has been bent to the needs of the moneyed elite, and the “compassionate” idiots.

Get out in the world and see what "complete oppression: really looks like.

Speaks for me. We owe a lot to the Founders with respect to what this country is not. Nobody promised anybody Utopia, and it wasn't, and isn't. And it never will be because that's impossible as everyone who has attempted to form one has learned, usually wading in blood.

The government badly needs a trim, to be sure. That may turn out to be a greater challenge than forming it in the first place. Hamilton erred in his belief that a government such as this would voluntarily stick to only its specifically enumerated powers. That it now acts contrary to direct and unmistakable limits such as Amendments 1, 2, 4, and 5 should make it clear to us all just how badly it needs to be reined back.

That said, we can do this, hopefully without wading in blood. The Founders never flattered themselves that they were giving us perfection, but they gave us a chance. That's an awful lot more than so much of the world has, ever had, or ever will.

Russia is fading demographically and a successful push to keep women home and pregnant will not show positive results for 25 years at least.

The founders admitted they were not, and could not provide a “perfect” government, only the best one possible, and indicated it would remain the best possible government only if we acted rightly over time to keep to the principles that made it the best possible. The nation was instead led by deceitful people on too many occasions, people who violated and corrupted the government principles the found tried to enshrine in the Constitution.

We should have had a civil war by now, dissolving the ties that bind us, over not time-sensitive critical political issues, but over the Marxist-Progressive treasonous betrayal of the Constitution enacted over the last century.

"...could not provide a “perfect” government, only the best one possible"

As bleak as it seems at times I think our ability to endure 8 years of Obama shows the resilient quality of our nation and its patriots.
