In other news, Germany passes gay marriage. Merkel voted no but allowed a free vote and many (up to a third if my bath is right) in her CDU joined with the other parties to pass it, not that they could have stopped it if they all voted no since they have no majority. Merkel had been blocking a vote but gave in. This was last week I think.
The appointed upper House gave consent yesterday. Now it awaits the signature of their weak President. Opponents plan a legal challenge, saying the constitution would need to be changed.
In an obviously fake story Merkel claims she met some dykes with a bunch of foster kids and saw how well the kids were and decided to “stop standing in the way of progress”.
In reality, both her potential coalition partners demanded it be enacted after the election and she decided to do it beforehand so the issue will fade into the background and not maybe not lead to more AFD votes.
