Trump, Putin meeting: 'Neither wanted to stop'

Even US First Lady Melania Trump was powerless to keep the first face-to-face meeting of the US and Russian presidents from running well over time.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said he tried several times to remind President Donald Trump about the ticking clock during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit in Hamburg.

"One of the reasons it took a long time ... is because once they met and got acquainted with one another fairly quickly, there was so much to talk about. There was just such a level of engagement and exchange that neither of them wanted to stop," Mr Tillerson told reporters.

He said the two men connected quickly and had "a very clear positive chemistry."(continued)

This is not surprising to me at all.

Two serious men with very serious issues to hammer out. Obviously they enjoy a high level of mutual respect; laying the groundwork for such dialogue in the future.

You can be sure every minute was time well spent.

What an honor it is to finally have a real Commander in Chief taking care of business.

Unlike odumbo, having stated he would have more flexibility after his election, Trump didn’t wait for a second term, he went directly and clearly to the point. He and Putin “connected”, something that odumbo could never do.

I understand that Putin just laughed at odumbo after they parted, not surprising.

Lets face it. Putin had to put up with the token moron president for 8 years. He is ecstatic to talk to a real, intelligent, tycoon president.

China: “They’ve been buying up big chunks of the US, too. And the South Pacific”...

If the U.s were in the manufacturing business, the Chi’s wouldn’t be unloading ship after ship of their low quality “goods” on our shores and Walmart couldn’t push them to Americans. Trump NEEDS to Make America Great Again!

Oh, I know. I was only referring to a bonding I’ve seen that I never saw replicated any place else. The guy who organized our trip in 1991, a Russian emigre Jew living in Brooklyn, NY told us after our first evening trading toasts in Krasnodar, the Cossack region, “Guys, please don’t get drunk with Russians!” We ignored his advice. Only they could understand what it felt like to grow up expecting to be vaporized in a cloud of radioactivity and the relief of knowing we both felt the same subliminal terror and the discovery that the other side was as human as us.

Reminds me of the scene in Fiddler On The Roof where the Rooskies with bottles on their heads dance with the Jews singing a song about peace.

Like them or not, they are another historically important piece of the West. America’s history is not Russia’s. Nor would we want it to be.

Actually sometimes the Chinese junk is pretty jolly good... as Western firms have enough control over the quality processes.

But it galls me that these firms aren’t selling US made equivalents even at twice the price.

But at the same time... surely the Chinese people who make this stuff have to be getting the idea that there still is a society out there rich enough to want them.

Maybe this will prove to be an indirect witness to the Chinese people about the land that the gospel made great. And God will be glorified in the end, after all. So all that Chinese junk won’t be in vain. I’d love to see China get serious enough about what God has given that it cleans up the Yangtze and desmogs Beijing. It shouldn’t be a sewer. I don’t care that I’m not Chinese, I still recoil from the idea.

If I was a Pole, a Ukrainian, or a Balt I’d no doubt feel differently. But there was something about Russians that made me like them. I’ve told people for years that if I was invited out for an evening to spend with Brits, French, Germans, or Russians the choice would be simple. I may not make it back to the hotel in quite the same shape, but I’d go with the Russians every time.

Russkies more fun....

Governments are their own source of folly. I hope the world will soon have had enough of worshiping sheer power.
