after 8 long years of solar energy businesses being promoted by the U.S. government, hard numbers and real work experiences are causing people to reassess just how green solar energy is.
To begin with, it appears that solar panels create 300 times more toxic waste per unit of electricity generated than nuclear power plants....
And while nuclear energy production does generate radioactive wastes, the sheer volume difference shows that the nuclear energy is more efficient at energy production. And while toxic may seem less hazardous than radioactives, heavy metals are forever whereas radioactive particles decay over time. Chronic exposures to heavy metals can cause cancer, birth defects, and diseases of various target organs.
Besides the panels themselves, there is quite a bit of hazardous waste generated in the actual manufacture these items....
Furthermore, the solar panels themselves present a unique set of environmental health and safety hazard. For example, in London, solar panels caught fire at a newly constructed, trendy, water-side complex.....
Additionally, the weight of solar panels can make roofs more susceptible to collapse during a fire and their presence creates other, potential hazards to consider during firefighting....
Finally, massive solar plants take a toll on wildlife. For example, the Mojave Desert solar power plant zaps 6,000 birds annually.
So, between the life safety issues, waste generation, and hazards to wildlife, about the only thing truly green about solar energy is the money being made by those pushing the renewable energy agenda.

Dealers in home heating coal charge as low as $100 a ton in bulk. Use maybe one or two tons per winter. How many tons of coal can you buy for the price of some solar panels? Enough to last a lifetime or two.
"It's your one-way ticket to midnight...call it Heavy Metal!"
Our family owned coal mine charged $45/ton loaded in a pickup truck.
We had several customers who wanted to hand pick chunks before they went through the crusher. Chunks were loaded by hand in the back of an old station wagon...
The Mohave desert plant does more than fry birds alive, it destroys the delicate desert life that is shaded by the panels. Solar is an environmental disaster. Maybe someday it will be effective but for now it’s a disaster
Here’s a good story from Montgomery County, MD. The county council is crowing today about the solar panel generation unit they have at their county jail. They say they’ll save $200,000/year.
I had to do some digging to get the rest of the story, but it seems to be this. Duke Power agreed to pay for the unit and charge the county its current electric rate. I couldn’t get exact numbers, but I think it was around $16,000,000. Coincidently, the county allowed Duke to raise its rates for everyone in the county. If this is true, then everyone in that lib county got screwed again.
No matter what way you generate power, there will be some kind of environmental down side. There is no such thing as a "clean" energy. The Environmentalist groups will call it clean right up to the point that it actually gets used by en masse...then they will eventually declare it dirty and fund raise against it.
That book doesn’t appear to relate at all to the current topic. Am I missing something about it that does?
Some politician will be paid a lot of money and will declare that solar power is a divine blessing and is the solution for climate change effects.
