I wonder how many weeks / months / years the guy has to keep quiet before the blackmail threat ends? The rest of his life?

I’m shocked at some of the (anonymously posting) FR members who are defending CNN over this.

If they had found his name and reported it, I would not have liked it. But you could make the case that they were entitled to do so under the First Amendment.

But they did not report his name, they blackmailed him into a Soviet-style public apology. And they have made statements that appear to threaten to continue blackmailing him unless he "gets his mind right". Totally out of bounds.

Does anybody really think CNN hasn’t already given the guy’s real name and address to groups like BLM or any anarchist’s group out of spite?

Anybody who would post what CNN published would also out the guy in a minute. They just don’t want to be held accountable.

The CNN post was extremely antiChristian as in a substitute for Christ. The wanted the kid to regret his actions, to confess his actions as being wrong to them and the public, then offered a limited forgivness, contingent upon an everlasting obligation to them.

They then “reserve a right” which they already have at anytime.

I suspect CNN doesn’t even grasp why their position is so unrighteous.
