Yes, it is extortion, and a violation of widely accepted standards for behavior on the internet. Doxing is bad enough, forcing somebody to make a show apology and then threatening to release private information if they don't follow some requirement is really outlandish.

CNN thinks it is OK to threaten private citizens who create a parody video. So much for their belief in the First Amendment.

They really are the Communist News Network.
