On Independence Day, minorities question promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — As many in the United States celebrate the Fourth of July holiday, some minorities have mixed feelings about the revelry of fireworks and parades in an atmosphere of tension on several fronts.

How do you celebrate during what some people of color consider troubling times?

Blacks, Latinos and immigrant rights advocates say the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election, recent non-convictions of police officers charged in the shootings of black men, and the stepped-up detentions of immigrants and refugees for deportation have them questioning equality and the promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in the United States.

I don’t know any self-respecting minority who sits around and wallows in this type of self-pity and frankly if anyone does (including white people) they are at fault. If you can’t go out in this country and make a living and have a good life you’re not doing something right!

Sure... we had terrible times when there was slavery and lynchings and horrible horrible things and in some parts of the country people still aspire to those times but the majority do not and we just want to go along and get along. I’m sick and damn tired of people trying to find any excuse they can to tear this country down!! Screw you if you have conflicting ideas about celebrating your country’s birth; our independence day. Just let me remind those who have a problem with this... there isn’t another country in the world where you can sit around and piss and moan and decide that you don’t like your country and you don’t want to celebrate its independence without being shot or hung!

Roughly speaking there are about 1 billion blacks in the world of which about 42 million or 4.2% are fortunate enough to live in the USA.

Blacks in the US may bemoan the unfortunate and tragic events that placed their forebears here but it is history and didn't happen to them.
They should thank their lucky stars that today they are 4.2% of the world's blacks who won the lottery of life.

They are among the small percent of the world's blacks who are fortunate enough to be living in a "white" western country
where living conditions are the best on the planet.

If their African antecedents had not been sold off as slaves by their own tribes to end up here in North America our present day USA blacks
would be living in Africa at about the economic level of Barack Obama's brother in Kenya - Or Worse!

More than likely they would be living like the blacks in Somalia, the Congo, Nigeria, Uganda, Zimbabwe
or one of the other backward African fly blown pest-holes their far distant relatives call home.

As they look at how the other 95% of blacks live they should get down on their knees and thank the Lord for their good fortune in being citizens of America.
Instead of bitching and whining they should kiss the good earth of the USA, hold the flag in reverence, and be proud to be Americans.

Countries don’t naturally form with a diverse population, and when in the past they’ve occurred it’s usually been as a result of armed conquest. These unnaturally formed countries have either melded together into a single population made up of one mixed race with one language and one religion or they’ve come apart, and they’ve usually come apart with extreme violence. The longer these diverse populations were forced to coexist with one another without mixing and becoming one, the more the hatred grew among them and the more violently they broke apart, but break apart they did, or genocide has settled the issue once and for all.

Rule number one: Freedom is what YOU make of it. Dependence on government is NOT freedom. And freedom does not come free. You have to work for it and you have to defend it daily from big government tyrants and their useful idiots who work overtime to destroy it.

Rule number two: Undocumented “immigrants” who are subject to routine deportation are not immigrants. They are illegal aliens. If you wish to be an actual immigrant you have to apply for it BEFORE crossing the border. You must come in legally.

Rule number three: It’s incredibly easy for 99.9% of the people whether black, brown or white, rich, poor or minority or whatever NOT to be shot by the police or end up in prison. Educate yourself, get a job, get married before having children, stay away from drugs and crime (including not dressing, tattooing, behaving or otherwise looking like a criminal or hanging out where criminals hang out), be respectful, mind your manners and the law.

Rule number four: Understand that there is no such thing as a free lunch. You and you alone are responsible for yourself and what you make of yourself. Well, with God’s help. But you’ve got to ask for that. And mean it (some strings attached). But otherwise God does offer gifts of freedom, forgiveness and everlasting life and happiness, but you have to be willing to accept them on His terms.

Rule number five: Teach your children well. Very important if you ever want to break the cycle of being a poor disadvantaged “minority” totally dependent on government handouts and “protection.” Truly free people of any race or economic status desire neither. Understand the true meaning of, “We’re from the government and we want to help you.”

As long as you’re on a government assistance or protection plan, you are NOT free.

America has actually been the exception to this rule. Why? Diverse peoples adopted and shared a common core culture of belief in freedom, property rights, and limited government. English, Greek, German, Irish, Italians, Mexicans, etc., etc. That’s going away. And the inevitable result is and will be strife.
