Budgets are tight. They had to chose to hire more fiction writers or fact checkers & editors. Fiction writers bring more revenue and they are able to “fact check” as well as the pros (i.e. snopes) - just google until you find confirmation of the “facts” you are looking for then give the number of Pinocchios you pre-determined if it was a conservative or “100% true” if a liberal said it.
This explains why hollywoord movies have sucked for a long time - CNN hired all the best writers.
