Hah! I see what you did there.
Here in northern Alberta, we still get very large grizzlies, and the black bears are also large. I think where most folks get confused is when they see a brown coloured bear, they call it a brown bear. I’ve seen cinnamon black bears, brown black bears, and black ones of course.
You can tell the difference easily by looking at the ears and above the shoulders.
Alaska Ping.
I had a friend in Maine put down a black bear while he was bird hunting using bird shot. According to him, it took him 10 shots shooting on the run to kill the bear. You have to be fortunate and calm to achieve this.
Thanks. Never ran across that before. I’ve always understood them to be the same bear, difference being location and diet.
Well, yeah. I was referring to the bears one encounters in the woods, but you are correct.
Not gossip, and I find you arrogant and insulting.

It the Animal Thunderdome.... the animals are rising up
Very lucky with his shot placement! Bird shot anywhere else on the bear is just a stinging sensation. He hit it at the perfect spot for the load he was carrying. Slugs are the load of choice for a bear.
IIRC the eskimo seal hunters in the far north carry double barrel shotguns, short barreled, bird shot to shoot the polar bear in the face to slow them and blind them, then the slug to hopefully incapacitate them. No time for a third shot.
Ya’ll kill off the gold rush soap opera down the road yet ?
Well, saw some on that in the local paper. Cause quite a stir, guess they were onto private land they didn’t have permission for. No one around here is too impressed with the “TV people”.
Hope yer good, amigo. Happy Independence Day!
I liked being stationed in Alaska .... so watched it then saw they were down the trail from you and laughed ..... give em hell.
The slugs got him
Thank goodness the kid did not believe that myth and had slugs in his gun.

He was loaded for bear .... SLUGS!
To be honest, I never think to ask the bears to show ID.
Bella Twin.
Young Lady Hero!
Hah! You must be like me then. I have a range at which if they’re inside of, they’re eating a bullet or several.
