Carl Bernstein calls for 'different kind of reporting' to take on 'malignant presidency'

Carl Bernstein is calling on journalists to commit to a "different kind of reporting" in response to a "malignant presidency" unlike any the country has seen before.

"We're in foreign territory," Bernstein said Friday on CNN's "New Day."

He added, "We have never been in a malignant presidency like this before. It calls on our leaders, it calls on our journalists to do a different kind of reporting, a different kind of dealing with this presidency and the president."

Carl is right. We do need a different kind of reporting than we have seen lately. Here is what we know:

1. The Fake News Initiave seems to be falling flat.

2. After nearly a year no Trump-Russia connection has been uncovered.

So a new direction is needed and I have a recommendation. It’s an approach I have named Honest News. For CNN, MSNBC, NYT and WP it will be revolutionary if implemented. And I fully expected it will be ...

I’m sick of opinion, conjecture, fake, and interviewing their co-workers for opinions.

Who, What, When, Where, Why (or how) are the hallmarks of news reporting. Not “might”, “maybe”, “could’a”, “should’a”, “would’a”.

What, exactly, does Bernstein figure needs to be changed from the ridiculous cacophony of hostility that we have before us? We have "professional" journalists sneering about the size of the President's hands - does it get any worse than that?
