Prosecutors drop attempted murder charge against Shark Tank blogger
April 18, 2016
Palm Beach County prosecutors have dropped charges of attempted murder and burglary with battery against conservative South Florida blogger Javier Manjarres after Manjarres accuser wouldnt cooperate.
Pompano Beach resident Manjarres, 43, publishes the Shark Tank blog and was named blogger of the year in 2011 at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.
Boca Raton police found probable cause to charge him after Manjarres sisters boyfriend, Jason Holowinski, told police that Manjarres had punched him in the face and head four or five times and fired three gunshots at Holowinskis pickup truck in a parking lot behind a shopping center on West Palmetto Park Road on March 25.
Police arrested Manjarres on March 26.
Manjarres attorney, Bill Cone, contended there were inconsistencies in Holowinskis account that would have made prosecution difficult.
Palm Beach County Assistant State Attorney Christy Rogers signed a No File notice for the case on Monday.
Victim failed to cooperate by refusing to identify to view a lineup, the document says.
