Sorry, I was referring to the wheels being pointed up.
Sorry I didn't read it that way the first time.
You mean a TV-station journalist didnt bother with simple fact-checking? Im shocked.
Yep.
A few years ago I saw a report about an Air Show and the local reporter referred to a C-130 as “a really heavy looking jet”.
98% of “journalists” are idiots.
Thanks for the report.
Yes, you did. However, my comment was in reply to your Post #1, which comes before Post #10, and thus was read before Post #10.
Thank God they're both OK. This could've been much worse.
The time has come to end these vain/dangerous, totally unnecessary, exhibitions.
Air shows are fine, but these “stunt” acts are not worth the risks.
Mark Morford agrees with you.
No. That confusion was entirely yours.
Air shows are fine, but these “stunt” acts are not worth the risks. What stunt were they in the process of performing?
The F-16 is the Falcon, not the Thunderbird.
I spent almost 30 years in the USAF, 4 in the F-16 program and 20 in the war planning/aircraft apportionment business. So, maybe it is context or familiarity....the headline makes perfect sense to me.
Wasn’t any confusion. I knew, and the “journalist” didn’t.
Well, you know now at least.
I did before. Are you having trouble comprehending the phrase “I always thought”?
Air shows are fine, but these stunt acts are not worth the risks.
They are not "stunts" they are routine flying maneuvers tailored for precision demonstration.
The aerial demonstration squadron has had it's place in our society since the birth of aviation. They recruit many personnel to the USAF. When is the last time you saw a USAF recruiting commercial on TV? How come they draw 250K people to airshows for just one hour of flying demonstration?
And yes, military aviation is in itself a dangerous profession. About 77 per 1,000 pilots in military flight training right now, will die before they reach retirement age due to an aircraft accident. The loss rate for the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels is stastically lower than for the USAF/USN fleet.
