I am sure she pays UK taxes. She is not wealthy and some of her income is cash, I would guess. I doubt she pays US taxes.

re: taxes. Every US Citizen or green card holder must declare all their income to IRS regardless of source.

I doubt she pays US taxes. She is required to file taxes each and every year - regardless of where she lives / works (I'm an expat in Switzerland so I know). She can face severe fines and penalties for failing to do so. This can prove difficult when she married and her spouse also has income AND he is not a US Citizen or Green Card holder. His income is not taxable. If they own property it gets worse. She will likely need to pay SS Taxes as well. She will also not beneifit from being a citizen of the UK as far as the banks are concerned - she will have the same draconian problems that every other expat has.
