Earlier today, Senate Republicans finally revealed their secret health care bill. And to say the reception was tepid would be kind. Besides the expected heavy criticism from Democrats including former President Barack Obama a number of GOP senators expressed their opposition.
A group of four Senate Republicans has already come out to say they are currently a no on the bill, effectively killing it where it stands. Now, you can add another to the list.
During an appearance on MSNBCs MTP Daily, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) explained that she just couldnt support a bill that would end up leaving more Americans without health coverage.
With host Chuck Todd noting that she was already a skeptic of the House-passed bill, Collins was asked what was her line in the sand when it came to whether she could support the Senate one.
I cant support a bill that will greatly increase premiums for our older Americans, she said. I cannot support a bill that is going to result in tens of millions of people losing their health insurance.
The Maine lawmaker added that she also couldnt support a bill that made deep cuts to Medicaid while also stating that she does care that funding to Planned Parenthood is being impacted.
However, she did let Todd know that while she is expressing severe reservations right now, she will wait until the Congressional Budget Office releases its score of the bill next week.
So, for Susie, what a person does with their body is none of her business unless it’s for mandating health insurance. Got it.
Let’s not forget the horrible deductibles that went along with that increase.
She has a medical condition that affects her vocal chords,
and that is why she sounds that way.
Under the “Better” Care Act which is neither Better nor about Care premiums for Seniors would be allowed to go from a multiple of 3 of the lowest equivalent policy cost to FIVE times.
By my reconing this means that my Current $21,000, $7,500 per person unaffordable care policy would become $35,000 a year. Who can afford either?
This is insane.
The problem with that mindless statement is that's not "insurance."
It's a new genormous permanent welfare entitlement program.
As long as it's "sold" honestly to the entire electorate, I can live with it.
IT SURE AS HELL AIN'T "INSURANCE!!!" And in no way sustainable.
Collins is an ignorant Marxist idiot.
At least the mafia had honor and respect.
Katherine Hepburn sounds normal next to this specimen.
Open your mouth Collins and say ahhhh.

When people are forced to buy insurance they dont want (or else pay a fine) then youve got a bigger problem, Senator
>
You misspelled B-I-T-C-H. Just thought I’d let you know.
No private insurance company would ever consider issuing a policy with the terms and provisions of a plan as generous as politicians will give you, and including those with pre-existing conditions.
>Collins is a ass, and is disconnected from her constituents and reality.
And, yet, the (R) allow her to run under their banner.
Party over principles. Not NEW, but many here will still spit-shine its dip-stick, since the (R) label seems to make *SOME* sort of difference....How and where? I have still yet to see.
If only.
The GOP and Trump campaigned on “Repeal and Replace.”
The GOP and Trump never had a serious, well thought out replacement plan.
And, they never had a serious, well thought out political strategy to implement the "GOP Plan."
Consequently, when the quality and availability of USA health care decline, the GOP will get the blame.
The GOP and Trump should have campaigned on “Watchful Waiting.”
The GOP and Trump should have promised they would not touch ObamaCare until the Democrat leadership publicly begged for a bail out.
Instead, we have total political incompetence from the GOP congressional leadership and from President Trump.
No insurance, private public or "Gummint" under those terms is sustainable.
For those in Rio Linda, that means it quickly will collapse, totally because it ain't insurance!!!!
Call it "welfare," and it all becomes crystal clear. Even children and "progressives" can understand the problem.

Someone should ‘disconnect’ Collins’ head FROM her ass.
Out of touch. She is positioning herself for some favors (bribes) to vote. She can vote either way.
Seriously, why do we need to replace obamacare? Can we go back to free market before changing to obamacare? No one died as far as I know, and was not complicated to comprehend.
I don’t get it. Yes, people will lose their lousy Obamacare plans, but if there were a true free market in health insurance, then better plans at truly affordable prices would spring up immediately for people to buy. People aren’t just going to to without unless they choose to do so.
BTW, allowing states to decide what conditions they will force insurance companies to cover is what got us into this mess in the first place. Groups lobbied state legislators to cover their particular condition, test or treatment then wanted or provided, and the result is we are all paying for things other people want, not what we want. Insurance companies and customers need to be free to make their own deals.
