In the late 1700s, the newly independent republic of the United States was continually beset by piracy at sea from four Muslim Barbary Coast states: Algiers, Tunis, Tripoli, and Morocco. The U.S., with limited military resources and staggering debts from the War for Independence, sought to establish secure routes for international commerce to spur rapid economic growth needed to build the emerging country. Yet the U.S. faced constant Ottoman attacks on its merchant ships. American and European ships venturing into the region routinely faced capture of crewmembers, who risked being held as slaves until hefty ransoms were paid. The persistent Barbary pirate raids created a major crisis for a new nation that could not afford to either suffer from economic isolation or pay the exorbitant tributes demanded by the pirates.

Islam understands strength and exploits weakness. It is a lesson not to be underestimated.

I’m sure this book is or will be banned/black-listed in most university history departments in America.

Liberals forget that the Turk Ottoman had waged an “open border” policy so as to promote their colonizing the mid east and North Africa.

Still to this day the Turks sponsor terrorists like the Muslim Brotherhood as a response to losing this footing for taxes of passage. The arab muslims will be quicker to blame French or British colonialism instead of the Ottoman

Enemy islamist retrobate Keith Ellison took his “oath” of office on the two volume quran that Jefferson utilized to understand the warped minds of the Barbary pirates.

From the book "The End of Barbary Terror" by Frederick C. Leiner:
The war was over and Decatur was leaving the Mediterranean on October 5,1815 on the Frigate US Guerriere. His lookouts spotted a number of ships making their way on a converging course. It was the Algerine navy. He was unsure if the Algerines would respect the treaty their Dey had signed three months before.

Decatur ordered the ship cleared for action. The gun crews opened the gun ports, rolled the mammoth 24 pounders back, took out the tampons, primed the guns, loaded them with round shot, and stood ready to open fire. The Algerines formed their ships into two parallel lines of battle, nearer and nearer came the Algerine ships; They would pass the Guerriere downwind at point blank range.

As they drew near, the accepted hail of the day of "what ship?" which was proper greeting, the call came over the water from the Rais's was "where are you going?", which was none of the Rais business and was considered rather discourteous between naval officers. Decatur answered immediately in the same tone, "Where I please!", and sailed on.
