BERLIN — In a coordinated campaign across 14 states, the German police on Tuesday raided the homes of 36 people accused of hateful postings over social media, including threats, coercion and incitement to racism.
Most of the raids concerned politically motivated right-wing incitement, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office, whose officers conducted home searches and interrogations. But the raids also targeted two people accused of left-wing extremist content, as well as one person accused of making threats or harassment based on someone’s sexual orientation.
“The still high incidence of punishable hate posting shows a need for police action,” Holger Münch, president of the Federal Criminal Police Office, said in a statement. “Our free society must not allow a climate of fear, threat, criminal violence and violence either on the street or on the internet.”
The raids come as Germans are debating the draft of a new social media law aimed at cracking down on hate speech, a measure that an array of experts said was unconstitutional at a parliamentary hearing on Monday.
Under German law, social media users are subject to a range of punishments for posting illegal material, including a prison sentence of up to five years for inciting racial hatred.

You obviously have not spent any time in Germany. In the US we have about as many conservatives as there are leftists. In Germany and France there are a more leftists than conservatives - but conservatives make a very large plurality in both nations. There isn’t much difference except that conservatives there cannot win any elections. We can still win some and we have an electoral college system which reduces the power of the large cities.

I’ve been there a lot. And yes, even German conservatives value “order” far more than freedom. The totalitarian impulse there is very strong and widespread.
Liberalism too easily segues into NAZIsm in Germany, into Communism elsewhere, and maybe further into Islam all over.
I have spent time there...have some family ties thru marriage. I stand by my statement and past hstory has proven me to be correct.

What they are going to get is a Sultanate, a theocratic monarchy. The benefit of an Islamic population to the elites is that it is self and local level enforcing. Your neighbor or your brother will kill you if you say or do something forbidden. The downside is that the elite must at the appropriate point convert. That’s apparently what the Persians did as there are no signs of Moslem Conquest in the archaeological record nor really in the historical record. Historical references to the conquest take it on faith because the Persians were Zoroastrians then they were Moslems allied with the Arabs. Archaeology points to a conversion of the rulers all at once followed by conversion of the population over the course of a century.
There will be a bloodbath with the native Germans against the Muslims unless they turn this "peaceful" invasion around soon. With the current demographic trajectory the only question is not "if" but "when".
