Rahm Emanuel: Democrats Are 1,000 Seats Behind Republicans

This week at The National Press Club when asked if Democrats can retake the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2018 midterms, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) said that the Democratic Party was “1,000 seats” behind the Republican Party at this point.

As a former DCCC chairman, Emanuel is credited for playing a key role in the Democratic Party regaining the majority in the House of Representatives in the 2006 election.

Emanuel said, “Sure it can happen anybody that tells you it will happen this far out doesn’t hasn’t been in campaigns, it’s too far to predict, a lot of things happen. I’d rather be a Democrat today going into 2018 than a Republican. And you didn’t pay me to say that, OK? Every time the House of Representatives has filled, it’s been a midterm election That is a fact. No party has gone into a midterm with a president this unpopular at this point. Without a severe consequence to that party’s position in the House.”

“No party has gone into a midterm with a president this unpopular at this point.”

Just keep telling yourself that, Rahm!

2018 is going to be a continuation of the bloodbath your LOSING side has been experiencing.

And President Trump is NOT ‘unpopular’ with 62-65 million of us...and we’re gaining more Satisfied Customers with each passing day! :)

He’s appealing to non-committed voters’ sense of fairness. You know, that thing inside you that causes you to start hating a company because they are too big.

He wants voters to start voting D just to make it more “fair”.

We’ll see if it works.

“No party has gone into a midterm with a president this unpopular at this point.”

What they don’t get is that popularity is a relative thing. If you are unpopular, but the other party is wildly unpopular, you win.

That’s even assuming the polls are remotely accurate.

No party has gone into a midterm with a president this unpopular at this point.

There it is again...

There seems to be an underlying assumptions that dems make that Trump is unpopular. Where do they get that?

I think they get that b/c they want it to be so.

Polls are bunk b/c respondents don't want be shot at or want bricks thru their windows. Maybe they're believing the polls?

...

Hey, Trump’s unpopularity is why the Democrats won Georgia 6 yesterday.

Exactly, Trump still outpolls Congress, the Media and virtually all congressional leadership (both sides)

“And President Trump is NOT ‘unpopular’ with 62-65 million of us”

However, the GOP Congress is extraordinarily unpopular with us and every Democrat that ever walked.

Republicans will lucky to keep the a$$ in 2018 ‘cause there’s a LOT of folks that want to see that party dead.

And not a small number of them are on FR.

Well, sure. After the Ossoff victory the Dems have all the momentum. Oh, wait...
