Three episodes in, Megyn Kelly's Sunday Night is suffering from no shortage of attention. The former Fox News personality's transition to NBC host got especially bumpy this past week with the show's heavily-dissected decision to interview controversial radio host and Infowars entrepreneur Alex Jones.
The episode finally aired Sunday, averaging 3.5 million viewers, a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and a 0.7 rating among adults 25-54. By all measures, that's virtually the same showing Kelly got with final adjustments during week two again trailing a 60 Minutes repeat.
Audio of the interview leaked prior to the telecast when Jones posted it online in an effort to discredit Kelly's line of questioning. Kelly most notably asked Jones, a man who peddles both conspiracies and questionable dietary supplements, about his motivations for calling the devastating 2012 mass murder at Connecticut's Sandy Hook Elementary a "hoax."
Merely sitting down with Jones did not go over well with Sandy Hook families and a few advertisers. NBC News went aggressively on the defense, trotting out elder statesman Tom Brokaw to read an essay about the need to interview characters like Jones, due to the reach of their "poisonous claims."
Kelly's first episode came out of the gate rather strong, averaging 6.2 million viewers. Her second episode, however, dipped down to 3.6 million viewers and was dwarfed by competitor 60 Minutes despite the fact that NBC paired the show with a winning Stanley Cup final.
Sunday Night, and all Sunday originals, was again overwhelmed by sports this week. Time zone adjustments will likely alter Fox's wrap-up of the 2017 U.S. Open Golf Championship, but preliminary numbers make it a solid winner for the night. It currently has 6.1 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49.

oh...guess i already said that............
I have not watched any of that type of show in decades.
The internet killed television for me. in 1997...
Sarcasm or not, a good idea. '60 Minutes' in that slot has a lock on 'hard' news and has for decades so go for a more 'Entertainment Tonight' format.
The lunatic is in her head
Ao that c()nt attacked Alex ( the alt right) and Trump and expected to siphon off some fame and ratings out of Infowar hypocritically for her own ratings.
This is the face of leftist journos these days, lewching on true grass roots and highjacking/leeching off of it for their own parasitic agendas and looks.
What was rhat they called it? Cultural appropriations.
Isn’t THAT the truth?
I think she expected Infowar people to watch the episode (cut one to boot) on MSNBC and instead they went dor the real stuff with Alex Jones.
Alex Jones should never do an interview with her or the big networks again.
What ever happened to Paula Zahn, former CNN star. I’ve forgotten. She was very beautiful and popular, but something took her down.
I bet NBC managers and execs avoid her in the office like the plague.
The thought has occurred to me the Kelly may become the Shelly Long of cable news.
She cannot be herself if she is attempting to siphon Alex Jones’ viewership to watch MSNBC. She is a traitor at heart, a leech. She probably did the same at Fox News, thinking it would be a good step up the ladder before showing her liberal colors.
Check it out, Oprah did the same after that white woman helped her out of her misery, never thanking or mentioning that woman ever on her shows, detesting the white folkes and ways.
Libwralism implicates politica everywhere: workplace etc... just like someone joining a party in a disteict not out of conviction but because it is the winning party and they want to be a politician. Paul Ryan types come to mind.
Folks...they don’t make them dumber then Megyn Kelly!!! Her brief fifteen minutes of fame are over!!! She is toast, no...burnt toast!!! Most stupid, dumb woman in the entire universe!!! She slit her own career throat!!! I hope she costs NBC millions!!!
Megyn Kelly was a flash in the pan, now just burning on the stovetop.
“What ever happened to Paula Zahn”
She has a pretty good “whodunit” show on Investigation Discovery now. Not political, so she’s watchable. Basically introduces an hour-long story and comes in with periodic comments.
“They are allies in cahoots but failed.”
Hey ifinnegan are you on some kind of meds?
This is starting to become absolutely laughable.
You make an effort in any relevant thread to mention the “demonic” Alex Jones, or how he is in “cahoots” with Megyn Kelly.
I hope you keep it up, it has become quite entertaining.
You are keeping the dream alive !
If I didn’t know any better I would think you had an agenda. Do you?
Megyn is that you ?
Oh, of course...aren't they ALL? (rolls eyes)
“Not political, so shes watchable. “
Not to me. She drives me nuts and I had to stop watching.
It was her presentation——and the way that she asks questions——not anything that she said.
.
“Alex Jones should never do an interview with her or the big networks again.”
It’s funny how he ended up scooping her all week long. She made a complete fool of herself. She has no journalistic credit left at all now.
That is what I call getting owned.
