I like Sekulow a lot and saw him make this claim on more than 1 show this morning. However I was very suprised that no one asked him who his source was on this, considering the media perspective that there should complete separation between Trump and any investigators. What is your speculation on how he learned this, assuming it is true? Thanks.

Sekulow doesn't need a source. He just looked at the situation logically the same way I did when I posted here on FR on Friday that I knew Trump isn't being investigated.

Just look at the chain of events that unfolded in late April and early May:

1. Rosenstein prepares a memorandum outlining the reasons why Comey should be fired.

2. Trump fires Comey.

3. Rosenstein names a special counsel to oversee the Russia investigation.

4. Democrats and their partners in the discredited mainstream media begin clamoring that Comey was fired to derail the Russia investigation, and that his termination is tantamount to obstruction of justice.

The accusation of obstruction of justice is absurd on its face. If the termination of Comey was a crime, then Rosenstein would be at least as culpable as Trump in the matter. As the Deputy Attorney General, he would be exposed to criminal charges as well as charges of professional misconduct.

If there was even a remote possibility that the firing of James Comey was a crime, then Rosenstein would have to step down from his position as Deputy AG as a matter of course.

He hasn't stepped down as Deputy AG, and hasn't even recused himself. This would clearly mean that the Comey firing isn't even something that's being investigated by Mueller, who must report periodically to Rosenstein on the status of his investigation.
