A total of 58 people are dead or missing, presumed dead following the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower in west London, police have said. Commander Stuart Cundy said that number "may increase". The BBC understands it could be around 70 people in total.
The recovery operation at the burnt-out block of flats has resumed and could take weeks, he said. Meanwhile, PM Theresa May admitted support for families in the "initial hours" was "not good enough". The statement came after Mrs May met some of the people made homeless by the fire and volunteer helpers in Downing Street.

The article has pictures of the burnt-out tower block.
The fire took out floor after floor, which shouldn’t happen.
Architects need to look over the plans.
I believe the British have coroner’s inquiries.
:At Geico you save 15%, inspectors get paid off, its what they do"
In other words, there's no actual report of any inspectors in connected to this fire in London getting paid off; only uninformed slander. Thanks, that's all I wanted to know.
“only uninformed slander. Thanks, that’s all I wanted to know. “
Union member? Act like one.
EVERYONE knows what criminals inspectors are. Everyone.
The tower was in a Muslim dominated area.
What (or who) started this fire?
Prayers offered up for those involved in this terrible tragedy.
Nope, wrong again. I despise unions. Maybe you aren't as perceptive as you imagine yourself to be.
"EVERYONE knows what criminals inspectors are. Everyone."
LOL. You're awful fond of making broad, emotional generalizations about people without any facts to back them up. Are you sure you're not a Liberal?
Wrap a building in fire and it WILL go inside.
The heat stress shatters the windows and the contents burn.
Kensington is a very nice area of West London - highly doubtful the elites will allow these projects to be rebuilt, opportunity to get the muzzies and riffraff out.

The aluminum clad PE PLASTIC resin foam core panels are flammable, unlike the FR (fire-resistant) mineral core panels.
Damn tragic.
Wonder how many other buildings are clad in the flammable panels?
Inspectors not being paid off is news worthy not the other way around
I’d be amazed if inspectors had gotten into Grenfell. Sounds to me like they may not even have bothered.
Every local council, in this case Kensington, has to provide a number of properties in their area for the housing of those in need.
The area may have been a redevelopment already.
Has anyone ever seen a fire spread like this?

Excerpt: But the London fire service has said the report will not be made public until an inquest is complete - which could take years.
It takes years so the inspectors and politicians can skate responsibility. They hope this will all be swept away.
Just curious - what were people expecting the prime minister of The U.K. To have done to fight this fire or reduce its immediate after effects?
Ditto the Great White Concert fire of 2003.
They had an inspection the SAt. just before the fire....but what too few news sites are failing to tell is how the tenants often put suitcases and storage items in the stairwells....took fire direction signs off the doors and also misused appliances....and disengaged the fire alarms..they were sited for these often but it didn’t stop them from doing it.
No matter how you look at this welfare..or in this case council buildings, generally do not have very responsible tenants and if foreigners as any of these were you have the problem of reading directions......
Either or any of the above...the loss of life still is a sorry thing to happen for the families that lived there...as well those who survived who lost all their goods.
That’s because foreigners will always do class action suites....they know how the system works so no doubt they’ll all be looking for cash in this.
Interesting is the woman across the hall was woken by the guy whose apartment it started in....he told her there was a fire and she could see it as his door was ajar..and she noted his suitcase outside the door.
That’s not to say he started it...but whatever was happening there the thing went up very fast throughout the outside of the building.
.....”less than three fatalities per floor. Remarkable”...
That’s what I was also thinking....one gal stayed in her apartment to film it .....she was in one of the top floors....people who were escaping kept telling her to leave but she kept filming and wouldn’t leave. There are others who wouldn’t leave as well, when they had the chance.
I have to say we had a bomb threat in a building I worked....I learned of this when I went in the building and saw dogs and police mulling around. When I was told what was going on I said why aren’t people leaving?...she said..”Because management hasn’t released us yet!”....Well I wasn’t waiting around and left the building right then.
Some people just don’t use their common sense.
