Trump to Cuba: Return woman convicted in NJ trooper's murder Associated Press Published 2:49 p.m. ET June 16, 2017 | Updated 19 hours ago
MIAMI President Donald Trump has demanded that Cuba return a woman convicted in the murder of a New Jersey state trooper.
Trump made the demand for the return of Joanne Chesimard while announcing changes to Obama-era Cuba policy in Miami Friday.
Chesimard was convicted in 1977 in the death of Trooper Werner Foerster. He was killed during a gunfight after a traffic stop on the New Jersey Turnpike in 1973.

“I see the incorrect inference you drew from my statement. DJT is going to take an obvious injustice, and use the Cuban governments pride against them. Watch.”
You’re full of it.
Trump is sincere and real and is saying this to see justice done.
You really think Trump is of low moral character if you believe he is cynically using such a case for ulterior purposes.
That’s because she was BLA. She was “down for the struggle”.
Go troll somewhere else.
Excellent move.
* Shows Trump respects cops by going after their killers.
* Shifts blame for repeal of Obama’s policy to Cuba, by tying it to something so simple.
* Doesn’t require Cuba to abandon Communism, so it is actually possible to do.
No way Cuba will return her.
...
How much could she possibly mean to them?
She knows way too much about obama’s mystery years as a black radical
The Cuban government is obama’s witness protection program
And by the way - that would explain part of why Obama was treated with contempt when he went down there
He is pwned and has been since the 70’s
“I never said Trump was insincere.”
The President said: “Return the fugitives from American justice. Including the return of the cop-killer, Joanne Chesimard”
You said: “No way Cuba will return her. This is the Art of the Deal.”
In other words you indicated Trump does not mean what he said and said it for ulterior purposes, I.e. “The deal”.
I believe he means it.
One of the Black Lives Matter bottom-feeders was often seen wearing a shirt that lauded this woman.
Right out of the “Art of the Deal” ... put EVERYTHING, even potentially outrageous items, on the table. Some will be tossed in return for those tossed by the other side. Not saying he shouldn’t hold out for this, but a heck of a negotiating card. The man is good.
Well, leftist terrorists like this POS will not be sleeping easily - the heat is rising.
With the Venezuelan regime teetering (the Operations center in Caracas is staffed by Cubans), the Cuban economy is near edge of a precipice.
A deliberate campaign plan at this point in history could result in freedom for the Cuban and Venezuelan people, and justice for this particular racist murdering communist.
In fact, the only way the Cubans can win/save face is for Ms Chesimard to have "an accident." And even then, it will only buy them time.
Trump throws a marker out, with no terms of negotiation. He doesn't appear to have any leverage. Watch him CREATE leverage, and watch the real purpose unfold.
Save this post and you'll see that I am right.
“First, I never said he was not going to get Ms Chesimard”
In post three you did.
“No way Cuba will return her. This is the Art of the Deal. DJT is fixing to tee Cuba up and use this as a marker.”
Cuba is not going to release Ms Chesimard off of a public demand by DJT. It isn't going to happen. They would have to have an epiphany that "asylum" does not cover this case, and that she is in fact, a murderer. They are not predisposed to seek justice. It's who they are.
Ms Chesimard is in Cuba for one reason: their pride. She is of no value to the Cubans other than being a thorn to the US side.
DJT is going to wreck Cuba. If the murder is part of that deal, great. But he is going to wreck Cuba, convert it to an ally, and create thousands of jobs in the process.
“...he is going to wreck Cuba, convert it to an ally, and create thousands of jobs in the process.”
Let’s hope so.

Scalise shooting: US Capitol Police hailed as heroes
Thank God Capitol Police were on scene when the deranged man began his shooting spree aimed at GOP congressmen and senators. It’s clear the courageous police officers on the scene prevented a tragedy of epic proportions. Those GOP members of Congress were sitting ducks. Without brave police there, wiling to lay down their lives in the line of duty, it would have been a massacre.
But this was no anomaly. The police protect and serve every day, in every corner of our country.
Take my hometown of Las Vegas.
Last weekend, Vegas was home to one of the great positive stories in the media this year. It was Saturday’s graduation of Las Vegas high school senior Daxton Alyn Beck, the son of slain Las Vegas police officer Alyn Beck.
I could not read that story without crying. Tears were flowing from this macho Republican businessman who never cries. I was taught by my wonderful dad David Root- a real mans man- that men dont cry. Well I broke his rule on Sunday when I read the story of Daxton Alyn Beck. My tears were tears of both sadness and joy.

Exactly right. Trump just created a fulcrum. Trump cares about both the particulars and the bigger strategic picture.
That is pretty adorable that Cuba said no.
Surely they realize that we’ve already decided that Chesimard will be brought to justice.
But you know we don’t want this to be difficult either. So Cuba can continue to be petulant...or they can actually come to their senses and work something out. I have a feeling they eventually will.
But justice is coming. Trump started the countdown clock. And when that clock hits 0:00 either her veins will be filled with poison until her heart explodes within our borders, or she’s terminated with hellfire from above. Cuba needs to be smart and get something for her while they still can. And let’s not pretend she means all that much to them anyway.
