So-called "microaggressions" are becoming so integral to our Zeitgeist that university researchers are now tracking them scientifically, or at least pseudo-scientifically. "Female athletes long have experienced microaggressions from the media and the public, such as racism, sexism, the belittling of athletic accomplishments and being the brunt of sexual jokes," the University of Missouri News Bureau claims. "Now, researchers at the University of Missouri School of Journalism have found that microaggressions against female athletes in the media increased by nearly 40 percent from the 2012 Summer Olympic Games to the 2016 Summer Olympic Games."
"Cynthia Frisby, an associate professor of strategic communication at Mizzou, also found evidence of increased microaggressions against female athletes of color compared to white athletes."
At least they had to do some computation. "Frisby and lead author Kara Allen, an undergraduate student at Mizzou, analyzed 723 newspaper and magazine articles covering the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. In the coverage of the 2012 Olympics, the researchers identified 69 microaggressions against female athletes. In the 2016 Olympic coverage, the researchers found 96 instances of microaggressions against female athletes. These microaggressions included four instances of sexual objectification, 26 instances of treating females as second-class citizens, 44 instances of racist or sexist language or jokes, 61 instances of restrictive gender roles, and 30 instances of focusing on the athletes physical body types and shapes. The researchers also found increased microaggressions against female athletes who play more 'masculine' sports such as basketball, powerlifting and wrestling."

“microaggressions” should get micropunishments.
Aggression, such as demented leftists shooting congressmen, should get the death penalty.
I guess this professor has never read a woman’s magazine, or section of the newspaper which ONLY focus on women’s appearance.
I find the LSM to be guilty of deciaggressions against me.
This is the kind of crap the right needs to aggressively push back on.
Im surprised that they didn’t do a better job of incorporating the Microaggression subcategories of Mini-aggressions, Mini-nano-aggressions, Mini-pico aggressions and Sub-mini-nano-macro aggressions.
Bad science.
Not sure if it’s just me but whenever I encounter the word “Zeitgeist” my crap detector goes off.
Low IQ ‘professors’ teaching low IQ remedial students - predictable results. Our Education Factories filling up four years with garbage...
mea culpa. I couldn’t resist.
I ignore female athletics just the same as I ignore male athletics and all sports and sporting events. They are all dead to me.
i am very sexist. I have always treated men and women differently and will continue to do so.
Yeah, but they charge full price for it.
It's crooked, but not stupid.
The stupid is in the ones who are buying it.
“Why won’t you look at me! No one pays me any attention! Racists! Sexists! .... Waitaminute! Why is everyone looking at me now! Everyone is Staring!! Racists! Sexists!!!”
> belittling of athletic accomplishments
If there are “no differences” between people with a penis and people without a penis, then the accomplishments of most “athletes without a penis” are not very impressive relatively.
If there are differences, there are probably better ways to present female athletic accomplishments than using messages like “girls can do anything boys can do” then using different size balls for a game similar to what boys do.
If certain groups (feminists, LGBT, etc) use the “no differences” argument in some cases and “differences exist” argument in other cases depending on which one benefits them and the current point they want to make, they lose credibility in both cases and the people they claim to be helping don’t get the credit they might otherwise.
It’s not necessarily the female athletes who chose what sports they play. Quite a few would prefer sports that don’t have as much opportunity in college. But other people (colleges, espn, etc) have decided giving them opportunities in “boys sports” is the right way to go. There used to be a lot more TV coverage of gymnastics, swimming, diving, dance, cheerleading and other sports not closely associated with boys. I know many more girls who prefer those sports than “boys sports” like baseball, basketball, or lacrosse. But TV coverage is almost exclusively girls playing traditionally male sports and a lot more scholarships are available in the boys sports. Helping girls do what they want to do instead of the “socially correct” thing would probably help their accomplishments.
Macro aggression is required to defeat the enemies
Yep.
You have to get right in their faces and point out the absurdity of their position. It can be painful for them and you, but it has to be done.
Will be interesting to see what happens when employers start tossing resumes with degrees from Missouri in the garbage. I’m sure that’s already happening.
It’s not “scientific” until it includes aggressions against conservatives....
