FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- Travis Air Force Base is under a security alert due to a "real world security incident," the base said in a Facebook post.
The Air Force base had a training exercise planned for Wednesday and Thursday, but this is not related to it, CBS Sacramento reports. The base is located in Solano County, about 40 miles southwest of Sacramento.
One to keep your Eyes on FRiends.
What exactly is a “real world security incident?”
False alarm per Lou Dobbs.
When they are reacting, it is (to my understanding) “training” or “real world”.
9/11, of course, was “real world”.
That lets people know that they’re not joking about using real deadly force, be it guns or nuclear weapons.
Haven’t seen Lou Dobbs yet. I’ll have to record it.

UPDATE FROM TRAVIS AFB: Travis Air Force Base emergency personnel responded to reports of gun shots at the Base Exchange. However, it was determined to be a false alarm. The base is no longer under lockdown.
We are working with our Northern California news partners to gather more info on this.

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AP) The Latest on a lockdown at a Northern California Air Force Base (all times local):
5:10 p.m.
A congressman says a mistaken report of a shooter prompted a lockdown at an Air Force base in Northern California.
U.S. Rep. John Garamendi tells The Associated Press that the lockdown went into effect at Travis Air Force Base on Wednesday after someone reported a possible gunshot.
Garamendi, who was briefed on the situation, says there was a training exercise underway at the base at the time and “someone took that to be an active shooter.”
The Solano County Office of Emergency Services posted on Facebook that there is no active shooter and the response has been canceled.
The base is off Interstate 80, approximately 45 miles northeast of San Francisco.

WTF, over
Seriously, I feel like I live in another planet. Real World incident....geesh. Is this more PC speak?
“What exactly is a real world security incident?
The military runs many simulated exercises during the year. Each is designed to rate the actions of personnel in a possible scenario that would be pertinent to the base/post.
When something happens that can interrupt the flow of the test that can cause a cancellation of the steps it can be called a real world event. It can be anything from a natural disaster like an earthquake to an attempted terrorist activity to an area related to the reservation involved.
I was involved with rating DP and security forces at a broken arrow exercise when there was a larger than trace amount of radiation detected in the DP equipment. It caused a shut down the exercise. Turned out to be a large deposit of radon gas under the runway. But it took a number of days to come to that conclusion.

Someone bought a bottle of Chanel No. 5 and found it was a cheap Tijuana knock-off. Went postal.
