Jeff Sessions personally asked Congress to let him prosecute medical marijuana providers
Washington Post ^ | 06/13/2017 | Christopher Ingrahm

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asking congressional leaders to undo federal medical marijuana protections that have been in place since 2014, according to a May letter that became public Monday.

The protections, known as the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment, prohibit the Justice Department from using federal funds to prevent certain states "from implementing their own State laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession or cultivation of medical marijuana."

In his letter, first obtained by Tom Angell of Massroots.com and verified independently by The Washington Post, Sessions argued that the amendment would "inhibit [the Justice Department's] authority to enforce the Controlled Substances Act." He continues:

Sessions's citing of a "historic drug epidemic" to justify a crackdown on medical marijuana is at odds with what researchers know about current drug use and abuse in the United States. The epidemic Sessions refers to involves deadly opiate drugs, not marijuana. A growing body of research (acknowledged by the National Institute on Drug Abuse) has shown that opiate deaths and overdoses actually decrease in states with medical marijuana laws on the books.

“It never ceased to amaze me how many people who claim to be against big government are all for a police state when it comes to drug enforcement.”

This is about the worst kinds of criticism from the left in terms of brainlessness. It’s used for all sorts of arguments covering many issues.

This should clear it up, at least for you: Arguments against big government are not arguments for absence of government.

Maybe he understands the damage marijuana does to individuals and to society.

Damage from smoking marijuana to lung tissue and function is as bad as smoking cigarettes.

“Damage from smoking marijuana to lung tissue and function is as bad as smoking cigarettes.”

It sure is. Thankfully there are other methods that don’t include smoking such as vaporizing & the ingestion of cannabis edibles.

But then, when you look at numbers of people using “medical marijuana,” the vast majority of them either started using it when they became potheads as teenagers or later on for fun, and then found out they could smoke it “legitimately” with the medical marijuana ruse.

“Maybe he understands the damage marijuana does to individuals and to society.”

Maybe he’s wearing a costume that hides the fact he is a lost river-troll.

We could speculate till the sky falls, ya know?

Btw, still waiting for your evidence to validate your various assertions in this thread.

What numbers? Where’s your proof, please?

Ingestion of cannabis causes all the problems I listed earlier:

Apathy, mood swings, rage episodes, no motivation, depression, decreased concentration, suppression of the brain’s natural cannabinoid analogs.

Marijuana is a very potent driver of self-centered childishness and apathy.

Next to creating “safe spaces” on universities, the best weapon our geopolitical enemies could possibly use against this country is to increase marijuana use.

So you’re repeating yourself without providing any facts to validate your assertions. Got it. Typical believer in “reefer madness.”

As I stated in a earlier post, I began using cannabis medicinally in February 2015 & have experienced the OPPOSITE of what you claim. Cannabis stabilizes my mood. I’m energetic & active now since I began using cannabis medicinally. I’ve one musical project nearing post production & have another one in full production while scheduling auctions for a third project all. I’m busy daily submitting music, writing music, editing music, recording music, mixing music & mastering music.

AND, I play bass at the 10am Mass at my parish.

“No motivation”??? Please lol.

In my opinion, you’re a believer in “reefer madness” regardless of the facts that clearly disprove your belief.

“Just look at the hysterical reaction I’ve gotten on this thread.”

What you call “hysterical” reads to me like normal incredulousness at your declarative statements that have little to no basis in factual reality.

But if you love the attention as I believe you do, who cares?

“and 100% of those “alternatives” have zero medical level dosage control.”

Hmmm that’s false in most states to the best of my understanding. Medicinal cannabis is certainly dosed out in edibles & oils. I know its that way in Florida, Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington state & Massachusetts for sure. Illinois as well I think.

Seems “medicinal pot”is not the joke you claimed it was.

Just look at the hysterical reaction I’ve gotten on this thread.

You mean the requests from multiple posters that you back up your statements with more than just your personal opinions? If that is hysterical to you, then you really need to retreat to a safe space, snowflake.

I am interested in those numbers. Have a cite?

Some folks profess to be ‘conservatives’ but are actually authoritarians who share some cultural norms with REAL conservatives.

anyone who doesn’t see that this is the quintessential “States Right” issue is more of a danger than any stoned fool.
