President Donald Trump said Friday that he agreed with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that no special prosecutor was needed for the Russian probe because it's already under investigation by Congress.

"You have it before the House," Trump told Jeanine Pirro on Fox News in an interview to be aired on Saturday. "You have it before the Senate."

Separate inquiries are being conducted by the intelligence committees of both chambers.

CNN reported Friday that Rosenstein had said that no special counsel was needed.

Not very many here remember this or didn't see this from last month.

Deputy AG Rosenstein did a back flip when he appointed Mueller.

I thought this was why-

"I asked a friend of mine to share the content of a memo with the reporter, I didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons, but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel," Comey said.

The whole thing was orchestrated.

Whack a mole. Two four-week old articles popping up like James Comey on a TV screen. ;)

There is nothing to investigate. The House and the Senate should not be wasting time on it.

Confused me, you put May 12 in the date. I thought this article sounded old by the context - the SP has already been appointed, but the arguments make it seem like they are trying to prevent one. Threw me for a loop :-O

I keep asking myself why all this hullabaloo? I wonder if this may lead to something else entirely. I can’t understand why so much smoke is being blown over 9-10 months without any evidence to speak of and no crime being alleged. I can only surmise it is some kind of misdirection but who is playing whom?

Checked a couple of newspaper articles and it looks like Comey was fired May 9 and the Special Counsel appointed on May 18.

A clear set up.

Rowenstein is a Dem and Obama bot .

He worked for Obama .lord .

Why did Sessions appoint him .

Sessions that stupid .

The second in command at the Doj is always a fierce President supporter.

Why did Sessions do this huge mistake .

Why was Yates left in office ?

Another huge mistake . Sessions has been taking awful advice or been in DC too long.

Trump should have known—Rosenstein was one of Obama’s US attorneys. Trump not only kept him on, but promoted him to #2 in the Justice Department!

Actually Trump’s hiring team is supposed to vet and approve deputies like this.

This is on Trump and Priebus, as well as Kushner who had lobbied for Ryan-pal Priebus in the chief of staff role.

Apparently they still are naive. Ivanka just thinks that Washington is “vicious”. The names floated to maybe replace Priebus are Democrats (Gary Cohn, the former president of Goldman Sachs!) or GOPe stooges.

Really, I think the Trumps still halfway think that with a little more amnesty or whatever they will somehow be loved by all.

Not all the Trumps—I think Don Jr and Eric and probably Melania know what’s what.

Rosenstein was first hired by the feds under Bush 1, assisted the Whitewater prosecutions, then appointed as federal prosecutor by GW Bush. He is know to be a Republican, which doesn’t mean much in DC. I’ve never heard of any evidence that his sympathy lies with Obama or any Democrats.

And yes, Jivanka had lobbied for Preibus:
