I have not yet received the announcement in the mail. But I expect it will arrive any day now.
After all, Robert Mueller and James Comey appear to be acting in concert as co-special counsel. Why not make it official with a formal notice of their union?
It was obvious it would evolve this way from the very moment Mueller was named on May 17th.
Which is why I wrote a column two days later, arguing that Mueller should resign as special counsel. He has a flagrant conflict of interest that disqualifies him from serving. To wit, his personal and professional closeness to Comey. They have long been allies. Comey regards his predecessor at the FBI as a mentor, while Mueller considers Comey his protégé.
It was evident at the outset that the fired FBI Director would be the pivotal witness in any potential obstruction of justice investigation by Mueller. Therefore, it was incomprehensible that Rod Rosenstein, the Acting Attorney General, would choose him. It was equally baffling that Mueller would accept the position.
I remember reacting to the news with the words, “are you kidding?” Turns out, it was no joke.

I think with the complaint coming against Comey, team Trump is about to head Mueller off at the pass.

Including the Deputy AG who appointed him. Thanks again Sessions. Trump is quickly running out of time to do something about Mueller who is clearly on a vendetta to get Trump. Now he’s bringing in Clinton operatives.
President Trump should fire Mueller and explain the reasons...conflict of interest and also the past cases where they worked together..the anthrax case, etc. He has all the right reasons to fire this guy. Let them scream...unless...

Trump wanted something else from Comey that hasn't gotten a lot of media attention because it's clearly weighs in favor of Trump's innocence: He wanted Comey to have the FBI investigate him so that he would be publicly vindicated.
Comey wouldn't take him up on that offer (for perfectly legitimate reasons), but I'm sure Trump never gave up on this idea.
Getting Comey's mentor appointed as the special counsel in the case is Trump's way of getting that investigation done in the most credible way possible.

There relationship has been a little to cozy over the years. Mueller needs to step or just close the whole thing as there is no collusion between President Trump and Russia.
Rosenstein needs to be shown the door, as well.
I bet Mueller is being wiretapped now as Comey Salome was.

This is a good piece by Gregg Jarrett. But, he doesn't pursue the question of why a needless special counsel was appointed, and he avoids the question of why Rosenstein chose Mueller.
It's hard to believe we're ever going to get to the bottom of the Deep State and the shadow government.

I think Sessions is going to roast Comey tomorrow about all of the whoppers he said last week and he’s going to fire Mueller and end this foolishness. Sessions is an excellent lawyer.
He finished by stressing "the cloud" that was interfering with his ability to make deals for the country and said he hoped I could find a way to get out that he wasn't being investigated. I told him I would see what we could do, and that we would do our investigative work well and as quickly as we could.... and a follow-up phone call on April 11.
Comey was deliberately keeping Trump in the dark. In Comeyland, that is "honest loyalty."
What the hell was DOJ thinking when they appointed this guy? Sessions recusing himself was just about as stupid as it comes. I wish he’d appointed an AG with more backbone....and one who wouldn’t appoint boneheads as his assistants.

Firing Mueller is a trap that the democrats are desperately hoping he will fall in to. Either way, the plan is wait this out till midterms, release a bunch of garbage, take the House and impeach.
If anyone fires Mueller, it has to be Rosenstein who never should have appointed him in the first place - unless, he knows something that we don’t about Mueller’s feelings about Comey.
It does occur to me that the DOJ could monitor any wrongdoing by Mueller-Comey.
Shout it to the rafters.
I'm of a mind that SC is a Trump creation. How else to get rid of the BS narrative that Comey created and had spread far and wide?
