An Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll released Friday shows Democrat Jon Ossoff has a 7-point edge over Republican Karen Handel in the nationally watched race to represent Georgias 6th Congressional District. The poll of likely voters has Ossoff leading Handel by 51 percent to 44 percent ahead of the June 20 runoff. About 5 percent of voters are undecided. The margin of error is 4 percentage points. Both national parties have poured astonishing resources into the race, which some see as a bellwether for next years midterm elections. The race is by far the most expensive contest of its kind, and Ossoff has shattered fundraising records by raising more than $23 million. The poll, conducted by Abt Associates, is one of several recent surveys that show Ossoff with an advantage although most show a tighter margin. They suggest that Ossoff is in a commanding position in the races final days but that Handel is just within striking distance

if the dems can’t win the one that they’re dumping untold millions into, they can’t win anything. and if the voters of the 6th cd want to be represented by a representative supported almost exclusively by limousine liberals in places like Marin county and NYC, then a pox upon them.
99%.9% of his supporters on Twitter #ga07 feed are from someplace else. Or they’re bots. It’s nearly comic.
AMEN!
Either way it looks as if he’s going to win and once in the office he’ll vote aggressively against everything moderate to conservative. He’ll be a flaming left winger and I hope GA D6 will be happy. Sucker voters buying into all the Never Trumpers and the I hate Trumpers. Well, it does appear the media non stop attack is working in this district.
I wouldn’t either but no poll has Handel up..not one.
Late today I was at an event with Karen Handel & Herman Cain. This was discussed. As we all know, it depends on what the question(s) were and to whom they were asked.
Not to mention how the reporter/paper spins the numbers.
Sort of like HRC’s 10 point lead in polls in Ohio?
JoMa
That’s how Al Franken got in office.
I do not live in North West Georgia any more. What has happened with the 6th district and other areas near Atlanta is a massive influx of northerners from Chicago and other Great Lakes areas from 1990 to 2017. 12 county Metro-Atlanta is in many ways no longer a part of the traditional south of the 1960s. Sort of like Denver Boulder is not like the rest of Colorado and Austin is not like the rest of Texas. Probably the Dem will win. Sad to say, demographics is long term how wars are won. The civil war had lots more troops in the North. The north won. The 6th districh has lot more northerners than ever before. The Dems probably will win. It is a good thing that the Union won the Civil War. slavery is evil. The passing of the 6th into the hands of the Dems will be an attempt to further enslave the USA into the arms of political correctness and the slavery of communism. For the black people from Chicago it is a simple statement, “turnabout is fair play.”
He has absolutely saturated the media here. My 6 year old is even seeing ads on her favorite youtube channels. Ads on Pandora are nearly constant. If he wins it will be on name recognition.
okay but didn’t the guy who is being replaced in this special election win by 60% of the vote? How long ago was that?
From the adjacent 5th district, it appears most likely that Ossoff will win. Voting started May 2. Everybody agrees that currently Ossoff is far ahead in votes already cast.
The Republican Party, both the State party organization under the chair whose term just ended, and the Fulton county organization are asleep at the wheel. They have “meetings” at a country club. But they take for granted the votes of anyone outside their little clique, or so it seems.
The State Party just chose a new chair. Hopefully he will do a better job.
Handel’s campaign and Handel herself have run a terrible campaign. Example, In the only debate Ossoff kept supporting Planned Parenthood and blasting Handel for defunding PP, which is the act that gave her celebrity and made her a viable candidate in the past.
Handel could have answered Ossoff’s attack, had she been prepared. But she seemed totally unprepared to discuss the event that defines her.
In the TV ads, Handel has allowed Ossoff to define her. Handel’s ads are “He’s not one of us”.
The question is: Who is US? The career politicians? The party insiders? Those who have lived in the 6th District for over 30 years?
The fact is that most voters in the 6th District are not from the 6th, or even from Georgia. They fled the rustbelt cities that had no jobs and came to the 6th that has many jobs. Many of them interpret Handel’s campaign theme to mean that they are not one of “us” either. That they are in the same boat as Ossoff. Handel has given a majority of voters to Ossoff by excluding them from “us” in the opinion of many.
After Cruz campaign staff ran such a terrible campaign. After Trump demonstrated the voters want a person with cajones, not political correctness, why have Handel’s campaign advisers learned nothing?
’ Everybody agrees that currently Ossoff is far ahead in votes already cast.”
/
How does “everybody” know he’s far ahead in votes already cast?
Have they been counted yet?
Not being sarcastic I just don’t know how things roll in Georgia.
This is how Cankles beat Trump.
The concept of turnabout is fair play. Politics in America. Black Democrats want to be the masters of the white slaves. Thus, the whites will go to work and the blacks will live for free on Government benefits. It is a form of revenge. The civil war ended during the 1860s. One hundred years later the blacks got Constitutional Rights called Civil Rights. Metro Atlanta is more and more Democrat. Demographic fact.
Hi.
“I wouldnt either but no poll has Handel up..not one.”
No poll had Trump up either.
5.56mm
Consider the source of this ‘news.’
The AJC did have Trump up in their last poll before the election, by 2 points
I’ll keep it to them because that is the poll we’re discussing in this thread.
I’m talking about in GEORGIA.
