WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Donald Trump ended a week dedicated to modernizing U.S. highways, railways and rivers with a thud.

The president visited the Transportation Department to highlight his goal of making it easier to build such projects. Trump said the permitting process takes too long, costing time and money. He pledged that "my administration is committed to ending these terrible delays once and for all."

Underscoring the point, Trump flipped through the pages of a pair of thick binders that held the environmental impact statement for a Maryland highway. With the dramatic flair of the reality TV star he used to be, Trump dropped each binder to the floor with a loud thud after he thumbed through them.....

This is welcome news. Our great President should concentrate his efforts on rebuilding our nation.

It’s time for America First

I do not recall voting for a $1 trillion infrastructure stimulus.

So far, all I know about the plan is that $200 billion in federal spending (all of it borrowed, I assume) is supposed to generate $800 billion in private investment.

I will wait for the details, but I am not optimistic.

Trump campaigned on this extensively.

It is something that is needed though how to pay for it is a bit problematic. If you don’t believe me transit through Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong and LAX. US airports, all of them in major d\cities are abysmally bad.

Ya think? Remember, $20 trillion in debt is only a problem when you don't like the reason for the new spending.

Just (a) build the wall, (b) movie embassy to Jerusalem, and (3) pull out of the UN’s small arms treaty — all promises— and I’ll be happy.

Improving infrastructure is what Obama said he was going to do with all his “shovel ready” stimulus work.

Instead, all he did was shovel a trillion dollars to this leftist cronies in exchange for absolutely nothing. It was pure theft.

Democrats and msm will do everything they can to make our infrastructure the envy of Venezuela instead of the world. It doesn’t matter if things work, they just have to be done on the foundations of socialism.

Where did all the Obama infrastructure money go?

A NYC developer used to dealing with Democrats, unions and the mob has a better grasp on the problems than most.

Agreed - almost any major city in Asia today makes the US look like the US used to make Old Europe look. I often imagine the immense disappointment an elderly Chinese couple must feel upon finally being able to afford their lifelong dream trip to Los Angeles...and then seeing the realities of LAX and Downtown and Hollywood for the first time and wishing they had gone to Australia, instead. :)

"Shovel-ready jobs."

Obama's stimulus package wasn't for infrastructure except on paper only. All that money went for payback to his donors and supporters and to enrich the solar companies with money to start up and then fail right away with the democRAT owners making out like bandits with the taxpayers money. None of those Solyndra deals ever worked out. It was just another democRAT scam to fleece our wallets.

Remember Obama laughing on camera somewhere, saying he guessed there weren't that many shovel-ready jobs after all (smirk-smirk). That's an overt "tell" when he says the money really wasn't for the jobs (wink-wink) but instead it was used for friends of Obama and the democRATS.

And these people worry about Trump being a crook. PUULEEESSE.

IOW, it’s not illegal/unconstitutional/Fascist when the (R) do it, eh?

Borrowed or stolen, it’s still NOT a function of Fedzilla. States wish to collaborate to create interstate infrastructure, be my guest.

>Trump campaigned on this extensively.

Same as he did for h’care (o’care can now be called t’care) and a majority of existing govt programs/laws/dept/agencies/etc.

Yet, that still fails to make it a PROPER function, per the Constitution, of Fedzilla.

His wall/enforcement on the other hand...But, I shouldn’t be having to spell it out on a (C)\(R) ‘site, but here we are...
