No-one likes Trump, I don’t care
Asia Times ^ | June 9, 2017 | David P. Goldman|

The US President is the first Western leader to stand up and announce that the whole sick business of terrorism has to stop. He means it.

When three knife-wielding Muslims charged into the Black and Blue Steakhouse near London Bridge on the night of June 3, they had the back luck to encounter Mr. Roy Larner, who shouted, “F**k you, I’m Millwall,” referring to the South London football club supported by England’s most notorious hooligans. Mr. Larner fought them off with his fists and doubtless saved many lives. Millwall’s chant is, “No-one likes us. We don’t care.” President Trump looks at the world in much the same way.

In his first four months of office, Donald Trump has made any number of false steps, but the actions for which he is most disliked have for the most part been effective and shrewd. His celebrated tweets about London Mayor Sadiq Kahn are a case in point. Kahn had told the press in response to a bombing in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood that “part and parcel of living in a great global city is [that] you’ve got to be prepared for these things,” to which Trump tweeted, “You’ve got to be kidding!”

European governments are resigned to a certain level of terrorism as the price of tranquil relations with large Muslim populations that harbor significant numbers of terrorist sympathizers and with Muslim regimes that support terrorist groups — Qatar, for example, which has backed both Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. Kahn was not condoning terrorism but expressing the prevailing view that reducing terrorism to an infrequent occurrence is the best that can be hoped for.....

He’s working on the jobs thing. The positive news about his accomplishments does not make it into the MSM, by design. They’re too busy shoring up the narrative about Trump and Russia to actually want to print good news.

I recently heard that the unemployment rate is down again.

I don’t agree.

Our unemployment is (much) worse than is reported. Trump is not doing anything about it yet.

I am still waiting. Now don’t get me wrong, I was supporting Trump even before he announced. But America is not at full employment. We have shipped millions of American jobs, overseas. Millions and millions. To China, to Mexico, to other countries.

Nope. We are NOT at full employment. Not even close.

You can’t expect Trump or anyone else to get perfect results overnight. The systemic problems in the system are built-in by years of instituting bad policy. Trump is working on reversing those bad policies.

Remember, we are still working on Obama’s budget—or lack of one, to be more precise. The first budget of Trump’s Presidency is still in the works and implementation will not start until October.

I know.

I am not losing faith in the guy. But he needs to move on this subject.

I am not the only person who is now waiting anxiously, while this big topic is (not) solved.

I understand. I really do. But Trump needs to fix this.

It is important. He ran on this issue. JOBS. Right in America.

It is time to build up our own country for a change.

We have been building up every other country in the world.

It is time, to pay attention to building up America once again.

That is why Trump was elected, in part. The GOP was not longer for American growth.

The Dems were no better. Everyone, in both parties, were selling out America.

Trump was different.

A lot of us, believed him. We still do.

But I haven’t seen progress on this (or the wall)

They were the two issues I got on board for Trump, so early. Very early. I was supporting Trump on this board, before he even announced his candidacy. Before many FReepers were even aware of his candidacy. Many were on Cruz’s side way back then. Many on the other candidacies. I was for Trump.

But I have not seen him take steps, on these two issues.

I am waiting.

No reason to blame Trump for lack of American jobs returning. The major component of Trump’s job creation program was his tax plan. If you’re looking for some one to blame try the pubbie eunuchs and back stabbers in congress.

You have to consider whether the supposed lack of action is real, or is that because the media refuses to report on it? I see a media intent on reporting fake news, with little to no coverage of President Trump’s accomplishments.

Do you follow Trump on Twitter? He tweets about his accomplishments as they occur.

This is a more detailed article on the remarkable level of investments Jack Ma is making in the US because of the more favorable business environment under Trump. Perhaps you didn’t get from the other articles what these investments actually do (as you seem to be saying you actually do want improved trade balances, which is exactly what this does):

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-alibaba-idUSKBN14T1ZA

I seriously doubt all the Americans with the million new jobs are going to complain that the investors giving them work are Chinese. Trump has already made it a priority to help correct the massive trade imbalance we have with China. That means he has to make deals like this, where the Chinese will be buying much more American-made products and supporting American small businesses for the benefit of both countries. On top of this impressive deal, Trump has been working on a new energy arrangement, where China will purchase large amounts of our natural gas, which should also help a lot with our trade deficit.

Beyond this, Trump’s team is already working with the Mexican and Canadian governments on renegotiating NAFTA, so that our workers get a much fairer deal. The formal negotiations are set to begin very soon. Plus, his slashing of energy regulations has already created many more jobs in that sector—jobs that Obama was trying to ship off to China through his oppressive regulations designed to shut down the coal industry and hamper oil production. In his first few months alone Trump created 30,000 new mining jobs.

Don’t forget also how Trump just signed a $300 billion trade deal (about 1/3 of that in arms and defense technology) with Saudi Arabia. That is set to create around 60,000 new jobs in the U.S. (some people complain about it because a small number of jobs will go to Saudi Arabia, while we get several times more new jobs—which is just a perverse complaint). On top of this, I’ve read several articles recently about new manufacturing jobs being created (although of course some jobs are still leaving, which is probably inevitable to an extent). Trump has already been like night and day on this compared to the Bushes, Obama, and Clinton.

Overall, I’ve really been impressed with how much Trump has already been able to accomplish on this front, even if of course he still has much more he wants and needs to do. Naturally, the press will not mention all the improvements in the economy that we’ve had after only five months of President Trump in office (with the exception of Charles Payne on Fox Business who talks about it all the time). I do blame the “press” for most Americans having no idea how much Trump has already done, how hard he’s already worked, and how much better things already are across several different economic measures. He’s not a miracle worker, but he’s doing very well within realistic bounds so far.

It’s been 20 weeks since inauguration day, so why hasn’t everything been fixed already, cba123?

Oh, I guess it’s because “Trump” has done nothing.../sarcasm

Where have you been?

You said you haven’t been online much lately so I guess you haven’t kept up here at FR. Do you watch TV... you’re not going to hear any positive news about President Trump there.

If you have a smartphone may I suggest that you subscribe to President Trump’s Facebook page, and subscribe to the White House’s official channel on YouTube.

Between those two and FR you would have seen numerous announcements... seems like every week...about US companies adding jobs and making investments for growth.

On the subject of all the steps Trump has already taken to create new jobs and eliminate the trade deficit, I forgot to mention too how Trump has been negotiating with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to help correct our trade imbalance with that country. From what I’ve read, Japan is planning on investing tremendously large amounts of money into our infrastructure projects in this country. Trump wants a $1 trillion job-creating infrastructure program, but he also wants much of it privatized instead of taxpayer funded. This is where Japan dumping so much money into our country can be beneficial to both our countries. They hope to get a return on their investments, while we get a modern infrastructure that will be good for business and we get hundreds of thousands of new jobs in construction and transportation related fields.

Recently at the G7 summit, Trump took Merkel to task for the trade deficit we are running with Germany. I don’t know if he got anywhere with her, but he has been actively working on that country too.

China has also started to buy more of our coal, since production is up under Trump’s policies. And, of course, there’s been a lot more going on that’s not popping into my head at the moment, but that I know I’ve read about in the past.

Altogether, unemployment is at a 16-year low, almost certainly due to Trump’s pro-business policies and efforts. The stock market (and thus a lot of people’s retirement funds, etc.) keeps reaching remarkable new highs under Trump. Last quarter the U.S. had 3.6% economic growth—a tremendous improvement over what we saw under Obama. And just wait and see what will happen when Trump get’s his tax bill through the (feet-dragging) Congress, and the U.S. becomes attractive to international businesses again. Businesses will flock here, and the incentive for many of them to leave will be gone.

If we had a proper press, Trump would receive great praise for the booming economy he’s already started to build. I hope you realize now that contrary to the idea that Trump has done nothing on this front yet, as you claimed earlier, he’s actually accomplished a tremendous amount so far and deserves to be applauded for it.

Churchill was very bad in business and finances. But then again Trump had no adversity toward using our bankruptcy laws either.
