Low wages, expensive housing, no prospects… why the Tories lost the young vote to Jeremy Corbyn
The Sun ^ | June 8, 2017 | John Perry

THE Tories’ seeming election disaster has come at the hands of the Millennial generation they ignored for too long.

The recent infatuation with Jeremy Corbyn’s extremism cannot be put down to the normal tradition of young people leaning to the Left.

For decades he was a joke figure in the Labour Party, an irrelevant throwback to failed political ideals discredited worldwide since the collapse of the Soviet bloc.

But in the past two years his ideas and popularity have been turbo-charged by an economic system in which far too many of the Millennial generation have no stake.

Their wages have gone backwards. Some emerge from university into careers on less money than the same job offered 20 years ago.

Buying a house — especially in London and the South East, but increasingly elsewhere — is a distant dream they have given up on.

Their rent is so high they have nothing spare to save or invest. The standard progression of adult life — job, mortgage, kids, savings, maybe a private pension — has been denied them.

Why wouldn’t they smash such a system?

When you ain’t got nothing, you got nothing to lose, as Bob Dylan sang.

If the UK goes for Corbyn and his party they have signed up for more taxes and immigration. They will make their bad situation worse.

Wages should be raised, and housing prices reigned in, immediately! Nobody should have to pay more than 1/5 of their monthly salary for housing. And nobody should be expected to work for less than $100,000 per year in today’s modern economy. Everybody’s lives will improve with just these two small legislative initiatives.

This is ominous, as the snowflakes vote in greater numbers disaster will follow. England is in even deeper trouble it would seem. Brexit may be dead and the invasion will go unabated until the country is finished. If May had run as Thacher instead of this squishy please all sides candidate it MIGHT have gone better.

As I said this morning, May is NOT Maggie Thatcher! Maggie would have told off the Labour and Liberal on Muslims. May was like Bush 41...

I wondered about that when she started going squishy on things she should have been solid. Machiavelli is alive and well.

Belief in something for nothing is highly seductive.
