Neither former President Barack Obama nor any member of his cabinet warned state election officials of any Russian effort to hack or interfere with the country’s electoral systems, according to the president of the National Association of Secretaries of State.
“We did ask,” Denise Merrill, Connecticut secretary of state and the association’s top official, told The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group Wednesday.
“And over-and-over again, they did say there was no credible threat that they had found. And they said that right through the election, and the next administration reiterated that. Over and over again when we asked, we were told there was no actual threat that they knew of,” Merrill said.
Asked if there were any private briefings for state election officials on possible Russian interference prior to the November 2016 voting, Merrill said, “No. We were not briefed on any of that. We were not told in advance.”
Merrill also claimed the administration failed to take state officials aside about a potential or real Russian threat to election machinery.
“That’s right, because I don’t really think there was one,” she said.
The Russians were “basically going to the office computers of a private company that served election organizations. Their malware went there, not to election balloting machinery. They were hoping office workers might be lured into a phishing effort,” Waurishuk said.
Even with all this, there's still no evidence the Russians sucessfully interfered with the 2016 election.

Gee why havent any of them been charged or asked to testify? Or why no reports on anyone with whom these 35 diplomats had contact!!!??

The rules are always different for democrats.
This certainly makes the point that Russian involvement in the election only became an issue after Trump won. Up until then it was not even a minor irritant. If the Dems are so worried about Russian involvement, why didn’t they, at least, warn those being attacked of the attack. I suspect that the real answer is that Obama and Hillary did not worry about their close friends running Russia.

It doesn’t help when Salem media host Michael Medved says, words to the effect that, no one can doubt Russian interference went on. The listeners are going, this is so much bullsh##, it’s a potential coup by the Dems and the media to overturn a legitimate election.
Maybe he had them expelled so as to prevent any of them from being questioned: “Da, Comrade, as a matter of fact I was hired by the Clinton campaign... some commissar named Robert Creamer offered me a job...”

Obama never warned anyone because he thought the Russians were supporting Hillary Clinton,that the grift was going to be against Trump.
Obama found out too late that his a$$ ( and Hillary’s) were grass. The Russians pulled a fast one on Obama. That makes me jubilant.

If the Russians were attacking Podesta’s DNC emails and hacking into the election data of many states, shouldn’t Comey have been meeting with his boss, Obozo, about that? He claims he only spoke twice to Obama in four years, and the second time was to tell Obama goodbye. That has to be a lie.
Up until President Trump won, "Russian hacking" was Chekhov's gun: "If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don't put it there." The Ctrl-left expected to cheat their way to a win, and they expected us to forget that distraction, a minor flaw in their otherwise perfectly-scripted show. Still, they mentioned it, briefly, so that if something went wrong they could point back at Act One and say "see, we told you!"
Apparently and according to several reports, the real threat was hacking by Obama’s DHS.
I happen to believe that, in addition to the fact that virtually everyone in the mainstream media and Washington DC hates Trump, the real reason for these so-called investigations if to divert attention from the widespread corruption within the DNC surrounding the last election - from the primaries all the way through to the general election.

“In a Jan. 17 letter to Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, DHS Inspector General John Roth said his office was probing “a series of ten alleged scanning events of the Georgia Secretary of State’s network” that may have originated from DHS-affiliated IP addresses.”
According to the leaked document there was no creditable threat from Russia as they never got anywhere.
To be honest even if Russia had compromised election official’s computers i don’t know of any state where that would have made a difference. Election system have to be designed transparent enough to deal with the threat from election officials, or we have a much more serous and reliable problem than the Russians would ever pose.
For it is the local election officials not the Russians who have the greatest and most consistent interest in manipulating elections.
The Russians don’t care who is mayor of Chicago Illinois, but Chicago election officials do. Who is more likely to uses such a system to play dirty?
The locals which is why you can’t have vulnerabilities to any one or any system like that, and you must have transparency.
