He didn’t just willy-nilly decide to run. I’m betting once he understood the big picture that he decided “it’s time”.

Oh I agree. RuPaul and Yertle can lead, follow, or get out of the way. Yertle's up for re-election in 2020, so we're stuck with him until then unfortunately; but if he continues to obstruct MAGA, Trump can work to get RuPaul replaced in 2018.
