Led by an outspoken legalization opponent, Jeff Sessions' Justice Department is reviewing federal marijuana policy, with significant changes possible soon. Almost nothing about the review process is publicly known and key players in the policy debate have not been contacted.
The outcome of the review could devastate a multibillion-dollar industry and countermand the will of voters in eight states if the Obama administration's permissive stance on non-medical sales is reversed.

People are worried about rampant illegal leaking from federal intelligence agencies, violations of free speech, due process, and equal protection on federally-funded college campuses, and the DOJ is re-fighting the old marijuana wars, which most conservatives don’t even consider a high-priority.
Never met a pot head who was accused of being an overachiever.
In my opinion, it’s a waste of resources and professional time.
This reminds me of the Temperance Movement during the last part of alcohol prohibition. If there really was a rift between Trump and Sessions, it may be due to Atty. Gen. decisions such as this one.
...because there's absolutely nothing out there more important than this, eh Jeff? What a disappointment he's turned out to be.
They should be spending their time going after the real crooks. i.e. Susan Rice, Eric Holder, Hillary, Podesta, etc, etc, etc.
> Never met a pot head who was accused of being an overachiever.
Then perhaps you should get out of the house more.
I know pot heads (several) who have earned the right to be called war heroes.
So Sessions can’t drain the swamp, but he can serve the desires of the same pharmaceutical industry which is deliberately causing an opoid epidemic.
For your intrest.
Very poor illustration. All ISIS fighters are dopers. Does not make them war heroes.
I was excited about Sessions as AG. I figured regarding cannabis Sessions would recognize the power of the states as per the Constitution.
IMO, there’s nothing conservative about cannabis prohibition.
Is comparing American war heroes to jihadis something that’s now accepted here?
That would be new to me.
doctors, lawyers, senators
Those who say they are for small government, states’ rights, and individual freedom - but oppose marijuana legalization - are liars.
Are you saying these war heroes were pot heads while in battle?
And a lot of CEO’s, including some of the most successful ones (Gates, Branson, any number of tech founders); I’d be quite happy to be as ‘dysfunctional’ as any of them
If someone doesn’t get that this is the perfect definition of a STATES RIGHTS issue, then that person is no conservative, merely a nanny-state socialist who happens to have SOME social values in common with SOME conservatives.
Prohibitionists cause more problems than they solve, the fact they mouth some platitudes that reflect attitudes in the more conservative parts of America means little or nothing, they are STILL ‘The Government Knows Best For You’ types.
yes prohibition of marijuana is idiotic, not Christian to jail folks for what God gave..just folks acting like they are good in a dying world
all true.
Jeff Sessions is not a law maker. He is a law enforcer.
Without the “Rule of Law” we do not have a “Free Republic.”
This “multibillion-dollar industry” is a blatant rejection of the “Rule of Law.” Jeff Sessions would be derelict if he did not work to stop this illegal activity.
If you do not like the federal marijuana laws, support congressional candidates who will work to change the law.
Note that even if marijuana becomes legal, it still does not have approval from the FDA...
Yeah, thank goodness the US has nothing to worry about but mj.
