Was there any mention in the media of the perp’s citizenship status?
Well a knife won't as often fracture the bone.
Funny that it becomes the lead story—four days after the attack. Though I suppose it is for the best, in that it pales in comparison to London, and if broken when it happened it would have been eclipsed.
Also good to know. We’re headed into Scarborough today to stay with my Father in Law on the way to see my family, and have a bunch of youngish children who don’t need to think about it.
I was also planning on heading to that Canadian Tire to pick up a bungee cord—it’s the one that is most conveniently located. Likely will do so, sans kids.
Here in Alberta they keep forcing more into the conservative areas.
It’s dangerous for them.
She’s Lutheran, I tell ya.
“She wanted 72 virgins?”
Should have been a teacher then.
Pardon me? We’ve been using that term since.. Let me see.. The earliest I heard it was the mid 90s. The melting pot was already in full swing then.
Not really—I used Wikipedia to confirm my memory. The two previous attacks occurred within a couple of days of eachother, and one of them was in Ottawa, ending with a shoot out in the halls of parliament which probably would be unforgettable of itself, but is further etched on my memory in that we are fairly close to Ottawa and I had a fair number of former students there at the time.
Canada has per capita a 66% higher violent crime rate than the US. Your research must of been a quick call to the CBC.
Whoa. My mistake. I guess the C word is like the N word. If you are one, you can use it.
Canadian media still wondering what her motive was.
Yes—not remotely original to me. I originally heard it used in non-Islamic contexts. There are many parts of Canada that resemble central Asia in terms of population and public services. As well, when I first heard it, there still seemed to be a great difference between the average Canadian’s influence over government and the average American, and Canada was much further down the road to two-bit socialism than the U.S.
The post I was responding to was specifically about terrorism. Not much of that here.
Definitions of violent crime also differ, which may make a difference.
I’m not sure where you are getting your stats—but the first place that I came across put the U.S. rate at 300% of the Canadian, and the U.S> murder rate at 250%.
I just channel surfed passed it. I don’t know.
The individual and those closely related to the individual, will always have a poor view of the big picture.
That said, more Canadians have been hurt and killed iby terrorists n this period in the U.S., the UlK., and probably France as well, than at home. One Canadian was killed by terrorists on Saturday, and the death happened in London (Eng.) not London (Ont.) or Scarborough.
To be more accurate, Canadian media is virtually AWOL on this story. Hard to believe (unless I missed it) but I see absolutely zero reference to this story in either the Toronto Star or the National Post. I listened to a Toronto based 24 hr news radio this morning and nary a mention.
The Toronto Sun does have it as their lead story right now....they have become the only game left in town which can be counted on.
Maybe she said, "I need aluminum primer".
Bring more in, Trudeau
“Refugees” welcome
Thank you, FRiend. As usual, you have taught me something.
