Former FBI Director James Comey told the attorney general in February that he didn't want to be left alone with President Donald Trump, according to a new report.
Comey approached Attorney General Jeff Sessions just one day after Trump asked Comey, in a private meeting, to end the FBI's investigation into his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, officials told to The New York Times.
The then-FBI Director did not tell Sessions of the president's request, he only said private meetings between the FBI director and the president were 'inappropriate', according to the Times.
He believed Sessions should protect the FBI from White House influence.
Sources told the outlet that Sessions could not guarantee the president wouldn't try to have another private conversation with Comey.
The former FBI director, who was fired by Trump on May 9, will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday.

If he goes after Trump, he incriminates himself since he’s already testified he received no coercion “in his experience” after the meeting with Trump.

Congress ought ask Comey:
1. How much were you and your brother paid
by the CLinton Foundation (to audit and hide its treason)?
2. What did you do to coverup the CLinton treason
and the Arkancidal scores of murders
wrought to cover that treason up?
Such meetings are not inappropriate, and if Comey felt so he shouldn’t attend them. Comey is a spineless, childish, partisan dope. Somehow Mr. straight arrow always does the wrong thing.
That is absurd. If the FBI director feels he can’t be in a meeting with his boss, he should just quit.

Besides, Trump was Comey’s boss. A closed door session is very approporiate. Since he doesn’t think it was appropriate, then firing him from afar was well deserved.
