President Donald Trump is by no means popularcompared with his predecessors, his approval rating has been remarkably low during his time in the White House. But there's some small solace for the president this week: His approval rating is, at least for the moment, a hair better then where President Bill Clinton stood at the same point in his first term.
Different polling outfits put Trump at varying levels of approval, but the RealClearPolitics average had him at 39.8 percent Tuesday, while the weighted average from FiveThirtyEight had him at exactly 39 percent. Not great numbers, but still better than Clinton. On Day 138 of his presidency, just 37.8 percent of Americans approved of the job he was doing, according to FiveThirtyEight.
If you compare where each president stood at this point in the Gallup tracking poll, however, the two are deadlocked. The most recent Gallup survey pegged Trump's approval at 37 percent, the exact same figure the polling company found for Clinton in early June 1993.

Do the right thing and polls, etc. will take care of themselves.
The Left bobs and weaves and worries excessively about things like the polls. But we need leaders, not followers. Trump is a leader and will do the right thing and won’t have to worry about polls. His validation will come in the level of our military strength, our economic strength, our safety, and our GDP.
They would no more report the true approval rating of Trump than they would report the truth about islam.
Not gonna happen.
If he fulfills his campaign promises, the citizens who voted for him will do so again.
If the job market improves in the midwest, he will gain voters.
All the rest is white noise.
Bill really stepped in it early on.
Only got 42% of the vote.
Flip flopped on the Haitian boat people and let them die.
Pushed gays in the military..
Burned women and children alive in Waco.
...bombed several thousand innocent Serbs to keep his “Lewinski” off the headlines...
This is because the MSM is pro-conservative and anti-liberal. /s
Soooo...... This idiot Tim Marcin writes for Newsweek.....supposedly a Major news Publication AND still doesn't know the difference between the words THEN and THAN!??
What do they teach reporters these days?
Less government means a better economy and greater the investment and growth opportunities with the by-product of greater job opportunities.
Your being to critical. Their doing the best they can. They just don’t learn grammar good.
ROTFL!!! Good Point!!
I don’t watch the evening news much anymore due to all the lies. Does positive Trump news like this still not get any mention?
Pretty sure at this point in Bill Clinton’s first term that his supporters weren’t just itching for the most flimsy excuse to have a really big necktie party for most of the Media and seditious pols...
Illegitimate president.
Did Bill really have anything to do with that?
I think it was really overzealous LEO’s that wanted a show of force. So that the plethora of other “militias and dangerous groups” at the time wouldn’t get any ideas.
Yea, they burned women and children alive and drove over their dead bodies. There was no accountability, and those people did nothing wrong.
Also, Clinton upon his arrival swiftly knocked out a request for the resignations from all state AGs’ to install his own where he chose.
That must be driving the ones trying to do him harm CRAZY!!
Good. They all need a rubber room!
All of my friends are very pleased with him.
