Californias new universal health care passed the Senate in a Thursday vote, and drew criticism from the unlikeliest of places: Democrats.
One in particular dropped this bomb, We are not debating single payer today because we are not debating a funding source. Democratic Sen. Ben Hueso told the Sacramento Bee. We are not debating delivery of service. We are not debating where the health savings will come from. None of that is in the bill. This is the Senate kicking the can down the road to the Assembly and asking the Assembly to fill in all the rest of the blanks.
Huesos fellow Democratic Sen. Steve Glazer called the Senates approval premature. He argued that the best course was to hold off on the vote

It’s stupid and childish political posturing.
It cannot be funded and won’t pass.
And by next year they’ll all move out of state.
But sorry, guys, Texas has just enough room left for California FReepers, if they want to come. All other Golden Staters: no need to make the drive.
The Kalifornia Senate had to pass it to find out what was (or wasn’t) in it.
>> We are not debating delivery of service. We are not debating where the health savings will come from. None of that is in the bill.”
That’s because The Democrat Thug Party is a party of socialist scumbags.
There can be only one funding source, the working taxpayer.
At the moment, one of the Senate Democrats voted no, which would leave them one vote short of 2/3. Maybe that’s the back door they’re planning to escape through.
Oh it will pass. Delivering on it is another thing altogether
The prime qualification for upper management in this new agency will be the applicants must be Venezuelans.
“the working taxpayer”
Soon to be an endangered species within California. Either the employment opportunities will shrivel and disappear altogether, or the working taxpayer will migrate elsewhere.
This cannot sustain. When the goose that lays the golden eggs dies, so does the continuing supply of golden eggs.
There is an easy place to find the money—borrow it!
The California Dem’s Wall Street buddies will be more than happy to peddle never to be paid back bonds to the stupid money pension funds.
Just do it do it do it do it do it.... :-)
The bill admittedly costs an additional $10,000 for EVERY man, woman, and child living within the borders of California. That’s in addition to the current state budget, likely the highest in the US. This means TRIPILING the taxes collected in the state. And Jerry Brown thinks Trump is nuts.
You’re forgetting about the possibility of a wealth tax. Socialists worldwide salivate over that.
he bill admittedly costs an additional $10,000 for EVERY man, woman, and child living within the borders of California.
And even after paying the 20% tax, how many employers will be pressured by their employees to still fund alternative health insurance? Why? Because the system will be a mess and they won’t want to use the same facilities/doctors as the Great Unwashed Masses.
So...last week funding was supposed to come from a 10% paycheck tax, plus 20% employer tax
...
I suppose the self employed would have to pay 30%.
Inherent in the senate action is an assumption there will be Doctors and nurses in California to provide the medical services.
After they have fled to greener pastures, there will be no services
It’s sort of like Hitler in the bunker moving around mythical divisions on his map.
Of course it's stupid and childish posturing, what else do the Democrats do?
Lack of funding has never stopped the Democrats from passing whatever their childish hearts desired in the past, what makes you think they're going to stop now?
I will be interested to see where Silicon Valley relocated to.
“I will be interested to see where Silicon Valley relocated to.”
Some of it is moving to the KC metro area.
