It should have been treated like a treaty, as should have been the Iran deal.

The way you take a knee and prevent any future comeback is to have it formally rejected. no way they get the requisite 67 votes for it.

Agreed. But again the Europeans are on the horns of a dilemma

Belgium complaining about a climate deal is laughable. Won’t cost them a dime and they’ll rake in billion. And turns out Elon Musk was getting subsidies over it. Give me billions and I might be an entrepreneur, too.

LOL! I'm in full agreement - made a comment on another thread saying the concern trolls now could rest easier because Daddy's little girl obviously ain't running the show.

Hear that, concern trolls? You can stop aiding and abetting the Left for a little while.

There is nothing to prevent the Senate from considering approval two later when different Senators are in office.

The fight never ends.

I’m glad you are reassured, as I am, by Trump’s announcement.

For me, it wasn’t a rejection of Ivanka and Jared’s more liberal influence that was reassuring; I always thought that fear was unfounded, hypothetical at best.

Trump supporters who were worried about that failed to take into account the kind love and respect Trump’s family members appear to have for him, the kind that transcends any differences in political or socioeconomic views.

My family has that kind of love and respect and I think I see it in the Trump family, big league. They know his America first streak comes from a good place. They know it’s what got him elected. They want him to succeed - and they know that means keeping his campaign promises. They aren’t out to thwart him (even if they could) - they are there to help.

My concern was different: I needed him to reveal to the public a particular side - a genius for problem solving on a giant scale. I’ve seen it mostly in old videos and transcripts from the 1980’s where he’s testifying to congress, pitching a renovation project or just discussing the economy, politics and life - a truly magnificent brain, guts and heart combination that sidesteps decades of frustration, paralysis and corruption and zeroes in on the winning solution.

For two years, Trump has been building excitement in huge crowds, trolling his adversaries in the MSM and waking up the sleeping middle class and while the persona he used to accomplish those political necessities is impressive and admirable - I’ve been waiting for the real Trump - Trump the builder, Trump the leader, Trump the teacher.

His speech the other day in the Rose Garden was vintage Trump. Leaders and socioeconomic pundits of today have no idea what they are talking about - not just here but throughout the world. They are lost and confused and have been for a long time.

Not since Reagan, Thatcher and the Pope of the 1980’s have we had leadership in this world that could grasp what is going on and what to do about it.

Listening to Trump speak, I kept thinking - “There! “He’s doing it!” He sees the problem, he’s explaining it beautifully, and he’s taking the right action. Finally, we have a POTUS again that’s worthy of the office.

There are certain conservatives, including Rand Paul, Bill Bennet, Dennis Prager, whose opinions I value, who are serious thinkers - they were not Trump fans during the primaries and their support during the general was more anti Clinton than pro Trump.

We are seeing these conservatives taking notice of our new President. He is far more than they thought - a few more promises kept, a few more speeches like Thursday’s - a lot of good people getting on board the Trump train and we can use all the help we get.

Agree 100%. Our only slight difference is about if the Ivanka influence had been a factor until now.

“Thank God Ivanka lost this one. Maybe she’ll decide to move back to NY in a pout. Thank God our president acted on advice from experts instead of her.”

No, you were just wrong to worry about it.

Well, if Ivanka’s influence was a factor up until now, what are some of the bad decisions Trump has made so far because of her?

I think this is just the latest example of this Ivankaphobia proving to have been unfounded.

Another poster on this thread said “thank God Trump listened to the experts instead of Ivanka”. I really don’t get this mentality. It’s like they think he’s an empty suit or a puppet and it’s just a matter of who is pulling the strings.

When are people going to realize that’s Trump IS an expert in his own right. He’s a builder, a fixer, a problem solver, a visionary.

Sure, like any executive, he takes advice and surrounds himself with smart and knowledgeable people.

But anyone who has worked for an effective CEO knows that the executive team is not just there to inform and advise, it is there to receive marching orders, carry out his agenda, his vision - in this case, to Make America Great Again.

What evidence do I see? It's reported that Ivanka brought in some aides who aren't in sync with the Deplorable agenda. Then there's her "cause". Paid maternity leave! How about a cause for women who are victims of human trafficking and being sold into sex slavery? How about visits to women in homeless shelters? She visits with top tier woman entrepreneurs while Melania visits children in hospitals, in school, women who are workers in call centers in Saudi Arabia, teens who live in crisis intervention centers.

You don't have to agree with us, of course. But perhaps something inside you should reserve from being 100% sure. A lot of female Freepers are through the years very, very good about having a feel for people and what motivates them.

Maybe I wasn’t clear:

I have no doubts that Ivanka is a liberal - I’m totally glad she’s not the President.

I’ll even concede that she probably tries to persuade her father to agree with her - who doesn’t try to persuade those who disagree?

I’ll even go one step further - I’m sure she sees her role as first daughter and “special advisor” or whatever her title is, as an opportunity to make a difference in the world, regarding the things she cares about - which are often not in line with what got her father elected.

My point isn’t to deny she’s a lefty, my point is to say it’s harmless.

All of the evidence you cited speaks to what her causes are, what she’s advocating, how she’s using her voice and proximity as daughter of the POTUS.

I’m asking for examples of where Ivanka being Ivanka has done any harm. And no fair saying things like “it sends the wrong message” or “it’s bad optics”, or “it is unsettling to his base supporters”.

I say there are no examples of real harm because she hasn’t caused any.

I think Trump supporters should give him space and trust him to manage his own family relationships as he sees fit.

Do we need him to fire, banish and publicly denounce his own daughter just so we can rest easy that he’s not letting her control his mind?

If Trump is so weak and feckless that his daughter could put him under a leftist spell, we’d have a lot worse to worry about than Ivanka.

I say lay off her and lay off Trump - because really, this case of Ivankaphobia that many FReepers have is not about mistrusting her - it’s about mistrusting the President, and he’s earned our trust again and again.

I agree with you on the ivanka being harmless. I would like to ad something that I am sure will anger a lot of free republic patrons.... as a conservative we need the yang of the liberal voice to keep us honest. if you look at the democratic party you see a group that does not even think that the wright should have a voice and because of that you have the most corrupt group of politicians. the moment we start telling Trump that he has to distance himself from his daughter who despite being a good person has a lot of liberal beliefs we start going down the path of intolerance that the left has gone down.

I remember President Regan and his two oldest children. I am sure that Regan would of been a happier president if he could of had the support of his two children patsy and Ronald junior unfortunately he did not have it and I believe he suferd spiritualy for it. Trump is very fortunate in he has the support of all his children and we should be happy for him

Ivanka is doing harm when President Trump listens to her instead of having a principled conservative filling that Advisor position. It has been heartening to watch Sarah Huckabee emerge. I also like that Karen Pence is becoming a stronger voice representing this administration. Another aspect is that some of Trump's votes at every stage were because little folk were fed up with political dynasties determining who could run for office.

Of course President Trump shouldn't banish and denounce his own daughter. She will hopefully see on her own that her children will be much better off back in their NYC environment.

I just saw an example reminding me of whom would be much better to fill that Advisor role filled by Ivanka. SARA PALIN expressed rage against Kathy Griffith as only Sara Palin can do. That’s the kind of voice we need in a close Advisor role!

I’m sorry to quibble when we are getting along so well, but your argument - that Ivanka has done measurable harm to the administration as special advisor since someone better like Sarah Palin could have been in her position instead - doesn’t hold water.

For one thing, there is not a limit to the number of advisors - Ivanka holding that position did not prevent Trump from appointing Sarah Palin as a special advisor.

Anyway, I still think your worries are misplaced. Bleeding heart liberals like Ivanka, who genuinely want to save baby seals and such, are NOT the problem. The problem is corrupt politicians who use such liberal causes as a front for their self-serving redistributionist schemes, like the Clintons.

Please stop worrying about Ivanka - or at least wait until you can pin something tangible on her besides caring about liberal causes.
