Elon Musk is threatening to resign from President Donald Trumps business advisory panel if he extracts Americans from the Paris Climate Agreement which indirectly subsidizes Musks multiple billion-dollar business projects.
The Wednesday threat came after news reports announced that Trump has decided to quit the 2016 agreement, which critics say would increase energy costs for U.S. consumers, factories and workplaces.
The threat was delivered via a pair of tweets from the entrepreneur, who has skillfully harnessed a variety of federal regulations to subsidize his Tesla electric-car company, his SolarCity energy company, and a Nevada battery factory.
Trump is under huge pressure from his supporters and many business groups to quit President Barack Obamas Paris deal, which has not been sent to the Senate for approval. When shaking hands on the deal, Obama promised the United States would reduce global warming by cutting U.S. emission of greenhouses gases by one-quarter by 2025, chiefly by taxing natural fuels and subsidizing new solar energy.
Trumps decision to quit the Paris deal would help many U.S. manufacturing industries by reducing the cost of energy from burning coal, oil, and natural gas. That cheaper energy would be a big gain for the hard-pressed manufacturing communities in the midwestern states whose voters carried Trump over the Democrats Blue Wall November 8, 2016.
But if Trump pulls out of the Paris deal, it will damage the political support and government subsidies given by Democrats to the new low-carbon industries concentrated in the Democratic-voting West and Southwest...

Mr. Govt. subsidy is concerned.....
This guy got rich being a government subsidy leech. Time to kick him to the curb and let all of his wonderful businesses stand or fall on their own.
Good. How does the United States benefit from Elon Musk’s being given the opportunity to influence the Trump administration to further his own interest?
The only reason Elon Musk “joined” Trump’s no power advisory council was to ensure that the Federal subsidies, both open and hidden, continue for his economically non viable businesses. Without those subsidies, they will collapse. Trump probably gave him that assurance when he agreed to lend his name and join. Hopefully he does quit, Trump gets annoyed and the subsidies are cut.
If he marries Amber Heard, she’ll get a big piece of it when she dumps him.
Ok. Just quit now.
Believe me when I tell you that some of these schmucks, like Musk, care only about money and accumulating massive wealth at the expense of their Country and their God. Don’t let the door hit you on the butt Elon.
So Musk builds his company, in large measure, on taxpayer assistance, then demands that the rest of us endure crippling, whack-o environmental dictates from the UN or other world body?
Pay us back for your incentives and subsidies, Musk, and then shut up and build your electric cars in the free market unassisted by taxpayer handouts. Impose your own environmental red tape on yourself.
bye-bye weirdo
(Alternatively, if the goal is to waste taxpayer money, the gov't could just give away 100,000 Honda Accords in a lottery.)
Just when his conflict of interest is about to be resolved, he wants to quit?
Elon Musk is only concerned with getting sweet government subsidies.
He really is a tax parasite.
If he were truly a businessman and a capitalist, he’d find financial backers to take on the risk and fund his projects without taxpayers footing the risk.
But, we see by his whine what he really is about.
well.....bye
Musk makes a compelling argument....to withdraw from the treaty.
bye bye mr. musk.
He has lost a lot of money in divorce already.
Why rich guys get married without protecting assets is beyond me and makes me question their judgment. The real world we live in America today, you have to take it into account.
Sniveling by the recipient of mega-subsidies....
How tacky.
