A screaming man tried to storm the cockpit of a Malaysia Airlines jet shortly after takeoff Wednesday night in Australia, but passengers tackled him before he could reach the pilots, authorities and witnesses told NBC News.
Melbourne Tullamarine Airport, Australia's second-busiest airport, was closed for hours overnight as armed tactical officers swept Malaysia Airlines Flight MH128, which had been bound for Kuala Lumpur, as well as the airport, officials said.

I always sit in the first row aisle seat. Anyone who might be inclined to storm the cockpit or other similar mischief will have to get thru my 56 years of martial arts training to get there.

Australian paper says he is a Sri Lankan national. An Australian rugby player stopped him at the cockpit he then ran to the back of the plane where as the rugby player said 2 big mates beat the f"ck out of him. Gotta love Aussie news😜

Those doors are locked and bolted from the inside as well as heavily shielded. Remember that German pilot trying to get to the flight deck after the first officer locked him out? Was banging on the door with a fire extinguisher and failed to penetrate it.

Attempted hijacker has been identified as Manodh Marks. Of Sri Lankan extraction. I haven't seen any information concerning his religious beliefs, if any, but Islam is a significant minority religion in Sri Lanka - about 10% of the population, third to Buddhism and Hinduism.
