I doubt that the KNEE has much input on taking a dump; but couldn't you just LEAN FORWARD to change the angle of your hip?

It is designed for people with bowel emptying issues, many have shortened colon or small intestines due to disease that cause removal of sections of bowel. And leaning forward to strain certainly impedes that process. As straining puts undue stress on the bowel.
Sit up straight and you go easier.
Much like Native Americans gave birth in a squatting position before the benefit of so called modern medicine, gravity takes it course naturally.
Before Privies primitive Out Houses were invented chamber pots or the bushes were the places you squatted to go. Leaves were your TP.
Places like Japan back when hubby was in service just had a pipe in the ground you squatted over to take a dump right in the open public.
