Apologies for re-posting, but Jack hit on an incredible discovery that even HE did not highlight in his piece:
"Of the entire committee staff of ninety, only two junior members are registered Republican."
This is massive, and I certainly didn't know this. How many Freepers did? That Republican Congressional Committees are all run by Democrats???
Never mind the fact that this committee---I'm guessing about 16-18 people---has NINETY staffers? So now you know why the "right" questions don't get asked. The Congressmen tell their staffers, "I have a hearing with Comey on Tuesday. Prepare a list of the questions I'll be asking." Naturally, the Dem staffers ask about Russia.
What are the laws to firing Congressional Staff? Ditto for WH Staff?
Gowdy needs to fire all staff except the two. Go Gowdy!
I'm not really missing it - it goes without saying that NO Republican should have a Dem staffer. I just was thinking more about getting rid of them.
This link to Legistorm provides details on the names and titles of the staffers on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, for the quarter ending Dec 31, 2016.
I counted 31 staffers with salary titles that identify as "Democratic." In contrast, NOBODY has a title with "Republican" in it.
I suspect a good sleuth can cross-reference the staffers with party affiliation and do some really good work.
Does a freshman Congress Critter have a choice? I imagine they get a roster and they pick whoever is available.
Uniparty repub leadership is totally fine with it. They are uniparty. Doesnt bother them.
The Deep State probably has a thorough dossier on all elected politicians — including fake info, if the real info is not sufficient for blackmail and scandal.
Well, considering that even the elitist Repubs are globalists - it makes all the sense in the world.
Jesus is coming, folks! Get ready . . . no other name than Jesus.
I know it is much easier to scoff . . . but just look at how the world is lining up and maybe go ahead and read something like the “Late Great Planet Earth” by Hal Lindsay. Yea, it’s outdated - but the Scripture ain’t.
I don’t know. I assume that each congressman hires his own staff, preferably at home. I would not think these staff are subject to civil service-—obviously if they were you could NEVER get rid of them.
Thanks. There is a major story here for any reporter wishing to dig a little.
I remember seeing an interview with a new congressman long ago. He complained that he had staff assigned to him.
I’ve been sick (still am) and not frequenting FR very much for a few weeks. I will think who would be the best people who may remember this.
Sooooooo much swamp to drain... I suspect one of these days we'll discover some elected Republicans REALLY are Democrats... they've scammed us for years. Nothing would surprise me.
Some time ago I saw a letter signed by the Dems who begged and pleaded for the Awan Bros to be hired. I wish I could remember where I saw it, no doubt on FR someplace. They begged for those guys to get hired, pleaded. WTH???? What was going on there? I assume, probably the Dems knew the Awan Bros were going to hack every Congress member and get dirt? Send classified stuff to Paki? I wish I knew more.
At least in some cases, new Congressmen are assigned DC staffers by party leadership. Staffers get passed around and might come with a committee assignment, for example. At least that’s how it was a decade or two ago.
This is third-hand and possibly apocryphal, but an acquaintance from a big Dem donor family with ties to a longtime senator told me that Ted Kennedy was really little more than place-holding rubber stamp for various staffers and "advisors" of the worst sort, and that he'd have signed his own commitment papers if some aide had handed them to him right before happy hour. The "hired help" had become the "boss." It seemed dismally plausible.
