Many senior and long-time staffers of the House Oversight Committee plan a walkout when Congressman Trey Gowdy takes the gavel over from Jason Chaffetz. Gowdy, who led the two-year House Benghazi probe, has secured near-unanimous support among members of the House Republican Steering Committee as well as Speaker Paul Ryan. Additionally, Jason Chaffetz has not been seen at work “for three months” and generally only appears when cameras are rolling.

Exactly and there is major dirt on Chaffetz. 88 Dems make up the staff for committee. No wonder nothing gets done. I wonder if leaks within that staff.
Congress has had a group of Moslem jihadi staff that has had access to a number of Congressmen’s deepest secrets including probably of some for whom they did not directly work. A lot of our distinguished Congressmen are being blackmailed big time right now.
And now the Pakistanis do, also.
88 dem staff members might be the reason. I hope Gowdy replaces them all. Hiw did it get such a huge majority if Dems?

When I saw Chaffetz go out of his way to shake Hil’s hand at the inauguration my antenna went up.

I am convinced that there are operatives, both Dem and Repub, who prey on new members of congress with the intent of bribing or blackmailing the newb's.
Never heard of this blogger but assuming all is true, did any of the hysterical posters read the whole thing? If you read all the way through and can understand English, you find:
1. The massive departure is not quantified, but may be broken down into Mormon staffers from Utah who will leave with Chaffetx.
2. Gowdy is expected to replace some staff with Republicans since most are Democrats.
I fail to see any problem except that the headline maybe should read: Gowdy expected to clean house in committee staff.

Yea, this is interesting. You have one Republican taking over for another Republican - and this this ‘protest’ to try to discredit the new Republican? One would think it would make no difference to them.
All that I can conclude was that Chaffetz was running interference for this bunch - perhaps they were blackmailing him? And so Chaffetz simply got sick of it all, and rather than simply give up his chairmanship, he’s quitting Congress and thereby ending the hold they must have had over him.
At least that’s my read.
I suspect there is a lot more to this than meets the eye. The initial response to Chaffetz leaving was to speculate that he had somehow been implicated in the Russian affair.
However, I am starting to suspect something far different. Major health problems. He has suggested a *minor* problem, that he is having elective foot surgery to correct a problem he had from foot surgery 12 years ago, to explain his absences.
I suspect some variety of cancer or leukemia.

Having dwelled in the "Swamp" during Reagan's administration (and part of Carter's), lobby groups draft their desired legislation, give it to "Their" Congresscritters who then send the proposed legislation to the affected Executive Agencies for their review and analysis (as well as suggested changes). Sometimes the lobby groups bring their legislation to the Executive Agency heads who have "selected staff" conduct the reviews...., then the lobby groups can give their draft legislation to "Their" Congresscritters with the endorsement of the affected Executive Agency head...
