I was in those waters aboard the USS Enterprise in January and February of 1968 during the Pueblo incident. It was darn cold with ice forming on the deck. At least these sailors will be up their during the warm season.
Was out of yoko in early 90s on the Indy just remember mid-late summer is typhoon season. We got sandwiched between two of em when one turned back from the forecast track. Folded back alert helps blades before they could get em stored. Japanese destroyer lost a mast and a few escorts lost sonar domes. Mother Nature is sometimes where the hardest battles are fought.
