Zbigniew Brzezinski, the hawkish strategic theorist who was national security adviser to President Jimmy Carter in the tumultuous years of the Iran hostage crisis and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the late 1970s, died on Friday at a hospital in Virginia. He was 89.
His death, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, was announced on Friday by his daughter, Mika Brzezinski, a co-host of the MSNBC program Morning Joe.
Like his predecessor Henry A. Kissinger, Mr. Brzezinski was a foreign-born scholar (he in Poland, Mr. Kissinger in Germany) with considerable influence in global affairs, both before and long after his official tour of duty in the White House. In essays, interviews and television appearances over the decades, he cast a sharp eye on six successive administrations, including that of Donald J. Trump, whose election he did not support and whose foreign policy, he found, lacked coherence.

“Good riddance to bad garbage. No tears”.
Yep.
Adios, sumbitch.
He was one of Obama’s handlers. What will Barry do now?
Pelosi keeps blaming Bush for stuff.
Again I wonder why these evil beings seem to live much longer lives than ordinary people who in reality contribute much more to society and humanity than the evil who outlive them.
Oh boo-hoo....
Funny how these people never comment on the 3-ring circus that was Buttcrack Hussein's administration and foreign policy. Actually, he's right, Obozo's administration makes total sense if you look at it from the standpoint of sinking the US economy every way he can. His foreign policy makes total sense from the standpoint of toppling middle eastern governments, putting terrorists in charge of them, and treating traditional allies so badly that they completely cut us loose for 8 years (it's probably a law in Poland that you can't own a dartboard unless it has Zero's picture on it).
Meh.
RIP.
“Id like to buy a vowel.”
Good one. Polish folks who have a vowel deficit buy their vowels from Italian folks who have a vowel surplus. It was God’s design to maintain overall equilibrium in the vowel markets.
Agreed, there used to be anti-communist, anti-totalitarian liberals, but NOT any more!!!
I thought he had interesting perspectives worth considering. He was a cold war warrior and more pragmatic and less idealistic than Carter. I liked him better than many other SoS’s which isn’t saying much. RIP.
As Howie Carr would say, he won’t be down for breakfast tomorrow....
I once asked an associate from the (former) Soviet Union what could be ZBig’s motivation for being so unashamedly proud of having created al Qaeda.
Said he was like a sadistic snake who bites for the pleasure of inflicting a slow and painful death.
Jimmuh you listening?
Repent!
this one?

After the war, Hardegen was mistaken for a SS officer with the same last name, and it took him a year and a half to assemble the evidence to convince the Allied interrogators of his real identity.[30] He returned home in November 1946, where he started as a businessman, first on a bike and then in a car. In 1952, he started an oil trading company, which he built up into a great success. Hardegen also served as a member of Parliament (Bürgerschaft of Bremen) for the Christian Democrats in his hometown of Bremen for 32 years. He turned 100 in March 2013 in very good health, winning golf trophies and still driving a car.[31]
“Amazing that Kissinger is outliving all these people.”
Back in the early 80’s I knew a guy who was convinced Kissenger was the Antichrist.
The psycho-physiological mechanisms of sociopaths?
Probably they don’t get as stressed as non sociopaths.
Be an interesting subject for a thesis.
Glad to hear she's still with us.
She was quite the beauty when she was young. Her and Errol Flynn starred in all those movies together, quite a lovely screen couple. The most famous was The Adventures of Robin Hood in which she played Maid Marian.
“he cast a sharp eye on six successive administrations, including that of Donald J. Trump, whose election he did not support and whose foreign policy, he found, lacked coherence”
however, NYT reports:
“He supported billions in military aid for Islamic militants fighting invading Soviet troops in Afghanistan”
which is putting it MILDLY.
how incoherent was that?
