Pros and Cons of Trump's Budget and Cons of Dem Demagoguery

Dems demand "Cut wasteful spending and balance the budget" (JackassOff dem candidate in GA-6), but don't dare touch any of the liberal sacred cows!

Politics is the art of the possible.

The Democrats (and many Republicans) are trying to make everything and anything impossible for President Trump.

I strongly support Social Security reform. I think we need it. But it’s kind of crazy for Trump to take a big swing at that program in his very first budget. It would be a deal killer for anything in his budget. Now is not the time. I believe Trump is wise to focus on other things right now.

Let’s at least take some steps in the right direction and get the economy growing again.

You know what I love about this budget. It repeals the estate tax yet still manages to produce $328B in estate tax revenue over the next 10 years to help balance the budget. That is some 3D chess.

Additionally, according to OMB director Mulvaney, the budget assumes that it's tax plan will pay for itself without factoring in greater revenues from the faster growth it would generate. That means the tax overhaul would in life enough policy changes (ie broadening of the the tax base by reducing deductions) to offset the loss of revenue that would come from lowering tax rates. That is not exactly a huge tax cut.
