Corpus Christi Republican Congressman Blake Farenthold considers the source behind the 2016 hack of the Democratic National Committee's email server an unanswered question and believes a federal investigation is warranted.
Speaking on CNN Wednesday, the fourth-term congressman refuted a widely believed conclusion that the Russian government interfered with the U.S. presidential election to aid President Donald Trump's campaign and instead indicated a conspiracy theory about a slain Democratic National Committee staffer could be true.
"My fear is our constant focusing on the Russians is deflecting away for some other things that we need to be investigating," Farenthold said on the network. "There’s still some question as to whether the intrusion of the DNC server was an insider job or whether or not it was the Russians."
Later Wednesday, Farenthold elaborated on his opinion of how the investigation should be handled in a phone interview with the Caller-Times. The death should be investigated in the same manner Russian interference has been reviewed, he said.
"That should be a part of the ongoing investigation into alleged Russian interference in the election, because that’s an alternative theory that deserves being looked at," Farenthold said.
The "insider job" theory centers on the July murder of Seth Rich, who worked for the Democratic National Committee and was shot in the back.

Someone at Wikileaks should “leak” communications with the source of the DNC hacker. That is the only way this is going to move forward or squelched it seems.

Perhaps if Farenthold would examine the Russian legislative election in late 2011 and the Russian Presidential election of March of 2012....he’d find that the US...compliments of social media, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, with bloggers and fake news/biased news....were manipulating with the Russian election process. At the time, Hillary Clinton made various speeches over the attempt to bring democratic reforms into Russia.
Once the State Department, Hillary and the WH opened this meddling with Russian elections...what exactly did they expect the Russians to do? Just lay there and take it?

FWIW, I did pause yesterday after I read about the two or three degrees of separation between someone peripherally in this brouhaha and James Alefantis, musing that nothing in The Swamp would surprise me at this point, be it some link between pedophila and Seth Rich's murder via party politics or about anything else. Yet some in the beltway still can't figure out why so many people voted for a guy who wasn't a politician or bureaucrat.

The DEMs want the leak and murder to be conflated, so that questioning the motive for the murder substitutes for challenging Rich as the source of the leak.

This boils dow to ‘hack’ vs. ‘leak’.
If it’s ‘hack’, then investigators are pointed to Russians.
If it’s ‘leak’, then investigators are pointed to the DNC.
Which of either ‘hack’ or ‘leak’, do you think Wasserman-Shultz, Podesta, Clintons, etc. are pushing? Of course, ‘hack’.

I’ve been saying the Seth Rich case needs a Special Prosecutor. It’s obvious he was the Wikileaks source.
That makes him either a victim accidentally killed who was high-profile in stopping Hillary OR a targeted assassination.
Given the history of convenient deaths associated with the Clintons and Obama, I lean towards the latter.
