The FCC will not take any action in response to complaints over a May 1 broadcast of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, in which the host quipped during his opening monologue that the only thing [Trumps] mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putins c holster.
The FCC received thousands of complaints following the broadcast. In response to an inquiry, an FCC spokesman provided a statement on the status of its review.
Consistent with standard operating procedure, the FCCs Enforcement Bureau has reviewed the complaints and the material that was the subject of these complaints, the FCC statement said. The Bureau has concluded that there was nothing actionable under the FCCs rules.

I wonder how many times Colbert has been someone’s c*** holster. He doesn’t have enough talent to make it on his own.
I think that the prevailing view on the FCC was that they did not want to raise Colbert’s stock with his lofos by making him into some sort of martyr.
Color me stunned!
That’s fine. Colbert is free to speak his mind, and we’re all free to not watch his show. The FCC doesn’t need to investigate every outburst by every late night talk show host, or they wouldn’t have time to do anything else.

I bet the FCC quietly is letting them know there will be a penalty if they do this again. I remember when Dan Rather kept lying about George Bush.
He was eventually replaced and was seen on a going away goodbye, don’t let the door hit you on the way out show. He still was off the air from CBS.
Colbert may lose his job too.
And now, "cock-holster" is a specifically permitted word during "safe harbor" hours.
